Microfiber Towel Question

How do you separate towels for washing purposes?

I catagorize towels as follows:
1. LSP/QD removal (Paint Safe) (Green)
2. Polish Removal (Paint Safe) (Blue)
3. Interior (Yellow)
4. Glass (Pink)
5. Dirty Jobs (These towels start as LSP/Polish/QD/interior and get demoted when they get past their useful life as good quality towels) (Mixed Colors)

Currently, I separate the towels in the above catagories and wash these separatley. Do I need to separate Polish towels form LSP removal towels?

I am currently using Micro Restore and since I only wash my own vehicles it seems it takes a while for me to create a large enough quantity to wash and I was considering mixing 1-3 for Wash purposed and keeping Glass separate and the dirty jobs towels separate.

Is there a downside to doing this? What can be washed together without any ill effects.

I use a HE washer, medium heat on wash, extra rinse cycle and extra extract time. Dry on low heat until dry but not cooked.

Thanks in advance

I wash all non-paint safe microfibers first, then through in a load of paint safe microfibers on top (so the non-paint safe ones are getting cleaned twice) and run it again.

After drying I will inspect each paint safe towel for grit or grime while I fold them. I currently use Detailer's Microfiber Wash for the first load and BLACKFIRE for the second, combined load.

I never thought of doing it this way. I usually wash general purpose completely separate. Nice idea

I'm in the same boat as you and it takes a long time to accumatate enough towels to do a load so I combine my towels. Might not be ideal but no problems so far. I'll usually end up with about 20 towels in a load.

First load is good towels: waterless wash, polish removal, quick detail, drying, glass, interior.

Second load is bad towels: tires, rims, exhaust pipe, engine bay and general around the house towels.

Mine are soak in separate buckets for 24 hours then wash together with Blackfire Microfiber Wash.
