Microfiber towel question?

Cross-contamination in washing is the enemy of MF towels. Especially with drying towels, wash those separately always. If your towels have already lost their absorbency, you can try the following. Fill a bucket half full of hot water from the tap, and then put in a couple pots of boiling water to raise the temperature. Add in a couple ounces of an APC, such as Optimum Power Clean and soak the towels for about 5 minutes. Then rinse them out and wash normally with hot water and a MF detergent. I did this with some older towels that I had, and it worked perfectly to restore the absorbency. The heat didn`t destroy the towels, I suspect the temp required to damage MF is much more than you can generate from a tap and a couple pots of even boiling water. I am much more vigilant about segregating towel loads now and have not had any problems since.

Just playing Devil`s Advocate here, as I don`t *really* care much what people believe/do as long as their laundry comes out OK...

Why worry about cross-contamination if all the contaminants in question are gonna get laundered out and flushed down the drain?

My big concern, and the primary impetus behind my sorting into separate loads, is "abrasive stuff that could get stuck in the MFs"; i.e., abrasive bits of stuff that might *not* get laundered out and flushed down the drain. Like...I wouldn`t wash the MFs I use to scrub the floor with the ones I use to buff off LSP. But I *will* wash my LSPing and Drying MFs together because neither oughta have any nasty abrasive stuff caught in `em. Polishes, waxes...that stuff oughta get laundered out.
