Microfiber Recommendations?

Hey guys,



who do you recommend for Microfiber? I have a few requirements such as:



1) Must be quality stuff

2) Must have some kind of color coding or a way to tell different types apart at a glance

3) Must have no tag, or one that doesn't get in the way



I currently use Griots for everything and they're pretty good except maybe the glass ones. The tags on them drive me nuts though, and there's no way to remove them without destroying the towel. I'd be looking for a full set of interior, wax removal, glass, general purpose, etc. so it'd be nice to pick them all up at one place...



So who's microfiber do you like and why? Which ones do you use for what purpose?

I like Poorboys. They have the Orange Delux Towel, Blue Mega and Super Towels and Green Glass Towel.

No tags on anything.
 
cobra towels are also quite nice.



I also recommend picking up some sonüs der wunder polishing towels. they cut right through stubborn polish or wax making it much easier to remove.
 
I've purchases MF from CMA, Pakshak, Excel, Autogeek and Sam's and I've got a bunch of different ones. But I've since trimmed my selection down to the Pakshak and Excel. Pakshak has a whole range of MF and different colors. I store them in opaque plastic containers and the colors let me know which container to reach for.
 
+1 for excel, i love their towels. But i messed up all of my waffle weaves i need to buy some more. And unfortunately i wasn't to pleased with excels WW's.

you got to be kidding. Typing in "PakShak" shows the correct site as the first listing. Anyway it's http://www.pakshak.com. I like their ultra plush plus, but I wish both sides had long naps.

Oops, Didn't notice you said erie. Don't know what that is.
 
I have both pakshak and griot's waffle weave mf drying towels.. I find they are just about the same, with the griot's towels being a tad bit thicker. Griot's also have a little pocket at the bottom or fold, I guess so you can put your hand in there - I'm still not quite sure what that's for to be honest...lol...



I have yet to try any microfiber towels for removing polish/sealants/waxes....not to hijack this thread, hoping the answer will help bfourney as well - but what do you guys recommend for that?
 
I use the Cobra blue plush MF. these folks are so anal(like me), the tag pulls right off, it's not sewn in, so you don't chance putting microscopic scratches in your paint.



they are so plush and fluffy, you could make a pillow out of them and sleep on them at night :D



I have washed them several times, and they are just as good as when new.

I use the following:



Polish residue - Pakshak Ultra and Ultra-Smooth or Excel Supreme

AIO & Sealants - Yellow Edgeless from Excel and Perfect Shine Buffing Cloth from CMA

Carnauba - Pakshak Ultra or Excel Supreme



I find that a low pile, dense weave works well for removal of polymer sealants and that medium pile MF work better for removal of paste carnaubas (Natty's and Pink Wax). The low pile, dense weave MF worked just fine for removal of Collinite 845.



I found that the low pile, dense wave MF (Yellow Edgeless) didn't work well for removing Natty's and PW. It got all gummed up and needed a QD to help buff off. Try the different types of MF and see which ones work for you.



Oh yeah, I also use WW drying towels. I have the Big Blue from CMA and use the WW glass MF from Pakshak.
 
I don't know if durability enters into this, but I have used my Pakshak MFs for over two years now and they still do a great job. My wife has even hijacked a few to dust and clean wood tables and wood moldings in our house. Even these are still in great shape.
 
I've used 3 or 4 different types and the only one that I trust is the Meguiars ultimate wipe microfibers. Its too bad they stopped manufacturing them, I don't really like the new ones they sell as much.
 
go to your local k-mart and pick up both Viking drying (yellow) & quick detailing (green) microfiber towels. just as good as any thing else out there, or even better imo.... :up

At $1 each they're a steal. I have over a dozen and work beautifully for everything except heavy waxes and polishes. They're a bit too plush for that, requiring a bit more rubbing that some MF that have more bite. Great for everything else. :up

They're also a bargain and do everything well, including removing heavy wax/polish, which the previous MF mentioned struggle.
