Microfiber Recommendation

i will not buy microfiber towels (linting issues) from AG anytime soon...

Any MFs from them at all? The Shamrocks I got from them lint something awful (though I sometimes put up with it if the softness seems worth it) but otherwise I woulda expected them to be, well....aren't their MFs Cobra brand? IME some Cobra MFs are OK, some aren't, but I haven't bought many Cobras recently.

School me if I'm off-base here

the ones that have linted IME are the grey 530's and the purple jr deluxe's (ended up trading some of my leftover's or demoting them to less important tasks). for the price they cost, i had higher expectations for them. there are so many high microfiber towels that can be had all around (both on online an otc) these days (they are getting better and better), it's just a matter of finding some you like. while i can't say i'll never ever buy them from AG again, it's most likely that i probably won't...

....same here. In addition to the Shamrocks I mentoned earlier I also bought those grey ones. While not nearly as bad as the Shams, they still leave visible fibers. ....the Shamrocks are so bad I simply haven't used them at all. They seemed like they were going to be a great towel when I took them out of their package but soon learned the awful truth during my 1st, 2nd and 3rd uses (and multiple washes later).

On the other hand, I have about 20 of their 16x16 green "detailing cloths" I have been very happy with and that have held up very well. I will probably try a few towels from PakShack next in hopes of finding a new, consistent source for my "good towels".

Maybe I got a better "batch" of these towels but I really love the green shamrock towel from AG. I have yet to find another towel that is as plush and soft as the shamrock towel. Also the grey 530 are some of my favorite all around towels. I use them for everything from removing polish residue, polishing off waxs/sealants and cleaning the interior of the car.

All I have ever used was the Cobra towels and some of those orange and light yellow ones from target but I have found the ones from target and not nearly as soft and thick as the ones from cobra but the price reflects that.

If I could find some microfibers that are on par with cobras but are cheaper I would be all over them but have yet to find them. I always compare the weight of the towels and cobras are some of the heavier ones on the market with the shamrock weighing 750/g

Well I just ordered 3 of the Super microfiber towels supposed to be 500/g and be 16X16 3 for 8 bucks came to 12 including shipping. I will report back on just how good these are when I get them in a few days 3-5 days. If they are even comparable to higher end towels these will replace all my towels since they are just so cheap. You can buy 120 towels at 2 bucks a pop.... That is dirt cheap for a thick plush towel that is safe for all jobs. Lets just hope they are ase good as they look to be.

THe super towels are quite nice, I posted up a few pics of the sample I received today. The towel is very similar to some CG towels. It passed the CD test.

I will be posting pics when I get my heavy towel from "Whole Sale Distributor of Microfibers" in the next coming day, if they pan out I will be ordering a dozen.

I've had all sorts of negative experiences with cheap MFs, from excessive linting, to becoming threadbare very quickly, to, worst of all....marring.

IMO the short answer is either PakShak or AutoGeek. OR is Exceldetail back up and running?

I have the costco microfibers as my cheap towels. I wouldn't consider 2.30 cents for one towel cheap, costco towels are .50 a piece.

for me 2 or 3 bucks for a towel is cheap when you are buying from AG and one towel costs 10 bucks. Hopefully these towels withstand the test of time because I will be switching all of my towels over to the Wholesale website microfibers.

If you had to compare the super microfiber towels to a cobra towel what would it be??

order a dozen from stocktowelsnow and if you don't like them, return them. here's their guarantee...

Customer guarantee:

We match any competitor for quality but if for any reason our product fails to meet expectations, please return the unused portion within 30 days for a refund.

I have never ordered from AG. I have read too many threads about how bad some of them lint and how they are are just way too over priced. I cannot compare, sorry.

I have yet to come across a "terrible" microfiber.

Even the OTC cheapies that have tags work well for any detailing work, just have to be careful of the tags.

I find the worst ones are always the ones with the mar inducing seams.

You haven't tried the new '15' pack at walmart for $10. These things spread around polish like nobody's business.

I really like Turtle Wax MF's...hard to find these days but I used to be able to get a 24 pack for $25 but they've all been damaged in one way or another.
