Microfiber Lint

After I finish using all my microfiber towels, I toss them into the washing machine and set it for cold wash and and cold rinse, and then tumble dry them in the drying machine. I've noticed that there are tiny lint balls on each towel that are sort of "glued" to the towel and sometimes when I try removing them, it'll pull a piece of the towel off with them. How do you stop that?

Also, does anyone know how to clean sheepswool mitts after use?

Thanks!

Do you have a picture? Frequently debris gets stuck in towels and can be impossible to remove without pulling some of the towel with it. When you say "glued" do you mean that you have some melted portion of the towel? This has been discussed as a concern with drying synthetic MF's, but I'm not sure I remember anyone actually being able to melt one--a disgraced member asserted that there was no way your home dryer could get hot enough to melt anything. However since there are definitely some thermal edge treatments used in manufacturing, it's possible some molten material could have gotten "spit" on the towel during manufacture. Really hard to say what you've got without some more detail/pictures.

As far as the sheepskin, hand wash it or put it in the washing machine. Make sure you set them up well for drying, either by hanging, or my friend Jr.'s method of putting a water bottle inside; if you leave them wet from use or washing they will tend to smell, rot, and not last as long. I really don't recall if I ever put one in the dryer; I haven't used one for a while.

MF hangs on to anything and everything that comes in contact with it. The washer needs to be scrupulously clean and lint free as well as the dryer if you use it to dry. Makes sure no hangons are on the towels prior to washing. I know what you mean about imbedded contaminents that appear to be welded in. Even once I got my washing process down and stopped seeing linting I see one of these mysterious goobers every once in a while. I chalked it up to that gremlin that hides in the washer and dryer and steals just one sock every wash day. The bastich is sneaky and I figure he sticks those little boogers on a MF every once in a while just to let me know he's still there. One of those mysteries that may never be solved. Kinda like why are there 10 hot dogs to a pack but only 8 buns?!? You gotta eat 40 of 'em to get even and if one goes in the grill you're screwed! Life's full of mysteries...

As for the sheepskin mitts, I hand wash mine with APC or degreaser as needed, wring 'em out and let 'em dry. I usually stuff a couple of bottles inside to keep the mitt stretched as it hangs to dry after washing it or after a car wash. Lets the air circulate inside better and keeps things stretched out so you can get your hand back in there after it dries.

I'll have to take pics next time, since I already pulled all the lint ball things off. It might just be melting somehow....

The lint things seem to be apart of another towel because the lint balls match the color of other towels and are mf material

@TLMitchell haha funny hot dog example
