Microfiber bonnet on Meguiars Mop?

Love the mop but hate the synthetic sheepskin mop head. I'd love to try a plush microfiber head on it, about the texture of the Sonus Der Wunder Mitt or maybe even a bit thicker.

Anyone tried this? Looks like a 6" polishing bonnet might fit.

Which microfiber polishing bonnet is the plushest, or are they all about the same?

Hi RallyJon, :welcome to Autopia!

All the polishing bonnets I’ve ever seen have had a very low nap. I think the characteristics that make them for good polishing would be less ideal for washing and vice-versa. Like you said, something more plush, like a chenille or sheepskin would work better for washing.

A couple of thoughts that came to mind...

You could pick up a few of whatever mitts you do like, unstitch them, and then sew them into a bonnet.

Euroworeilly has a hand pad system. They have both sheepskin and mf wash bonnets for it. Maybe that would fit.

You might be able to use a sheepskin polishing bonnet (not woven/tufted wool), the kind that’s tied onto a large, rubber, rotary backing plate.

Let us know how it works out.

I wanted to try that setup myself but I never got around to picking up a mop before they were disco’ed.

Hmm, so-so. Got this bonnet, which fit well and tied on tightly: Sheepskin Products and Accessories

Problem was, it held too much liquid. The hinge on the mop got floppy with the weight and it was hard to control. Great for bringing a huge gush of ONR solution to the car, though. I think I'll try one with lower nap.
