MF towels at Sams club

Found these yesterday at Sams Club. Good price at about 10 bucks and change. Not sure of the quality, but for that price you can use them for wheels, etc.

It's always nice to have some towels around for "grungy" work. Just don't use them touch your paint! :D

Yup use em for those grudgy work like wheels etc. I throw away at least one every full detail. Those look okay, not as plush as the Detailing Solutions MF.

For the price, I'd consider them for use on glass, wheels, and door jambs only. Basically any job where you wouldn't want to risk sacrificing one of your best MF's.

The top-of-the-line towels that CMA & Autogeek sell are 220K+ fibers per sq in. so I question how soft and/or absorbant these towels would be.

All MF are not created equal.

I picked some up the other day. At .50 cents or so a piece they seem like a great deal. Watch the edges on the towels though, I has a couple with some sharp edges.

Hello people,

I know this is going to get alot of answers,,,,but in opinion,,,,which are the best MF towels for the buck, while not sacrificing quality, and best place to buy??

Thanks,
Mark

You'd probably get a lot more answers if you started your own thread, but I'll throw out my fave for the sake of it. I like the Adam's MF. They're $5 each, but I honestly think they're worth it. And this is coming from someone who doesn't really buy into the "ones you can get locally are not fit for anything" theory.

Hi Jared, Where you do buy your Adam's MF's?

I myself got a little shaken by this thread, cause I too was getting the sam's MF towels. I'm fanatical about my truck care, but didn't notice ill affects from the sam's brand. I also got the very large MF towels from wal-mart. (I use the biggies for drying).

What else don't I know!

Thanks,
Mark

You can get an excellent MF towel from Poorboy's or Scott at www.specialtymotoringproducts.com for $4.95 each. I've used both & I highly recommend them for quality, softness, and price. The MF towels from Adam's are $5.95 ea but I haven't used one.

The towels are blue (if that matters), they are very soft & plush, and I'm pretty sure the polyester/polymide percentages are 75/25 (absorbant).

like ive said in the past. ive used MF ive boughten from sams club and from higher end brands side by side and neither have any ill effect on my paint. No scratches or anything....maybe my clear coat is alil harder then yours cuz ive never had a scratch (that came from a mf towel) on my paint. ive done a CD test on the sams club ones. both the older and the newer more plush ones that they sell now. and neither scratched the CD

I think that we are all picky and fanatical in our own individual ways. And that is a good thing. I know I am, but I always listen to other opinions whether I agree or not,,,,,,,,,It's great not to have to re-invent the wheel everytime.

I also personally thought that the sams MF towels were just fine. I've only had the MF towels that I've gotten from Pep boys to compare to them and they seem to be the same if not better. I know I will invest in a "Good" towel somewhere down the line and compare them.

Sams had a pack of 12 towels on sale for $4.50 I thought that was great and bought 4 packs of them. (they were previously $8+). The price of the sams MF make them more disposable too. I'd hate to ruin a $25 towel

Thanks to all for the good opinions and info!

yea exactly once these sams towels even have the slightest bit of wear on them there either wheel or they go in the garbage... not very much money going to waste either.

IMO been using the Sams Club MF towels. Fine quality, soft, and a bargain compared to some higher cost MF. At 9.95 a dozen there a bargain. After all "made in china" is "made in china" regardless if it cost 25 bucks or 10.

I've found many sites that say the best MF's come from Korea & the lesser quality MF's come from China.

No empirical data to back-up this statement, just what I've read but I'm very pleased with the Korean MF's.

I've purchased a whole bunch of the Costco ones and have never had a problem. Honestly, I've never thought much about absorbency - I still use the water blade, waffle weave, and absorber for drying.

I use these in two stages. When they're "pure" they touch the paint. Any stains, blemishes, tears, etc. put them in the other box, where they're used for leather & interior work and underhood detailing.

I have a couple of the Adam's towels and a small stack from premiumautocare.com. This is probably a horrible confession, but for my uses I don't see enough of a difference to justify the extra Samolians.

Take care,
Jerry

Watch out for the water blade!! It will catch small particles and drag them along your paint finish and leave scratches,,,,,,I've experienced this while lettering customer cars. It's really great to squeegee the water right off, but that blade just holds contamination on the wiping edge. I have a leaf blower specifically for my truck. When I must get the water off pronto the blower is great. Great for engine, wheels and other nooks and crannies. Bikers have been using them for a long time to detail fins and other chrome parts with nooks.

I'm pretty careful - it only gets used on a thoroughly cleaned vehicle, and at that on the hood, roof/tonneau, and glass. I wipe it after each pass with either the absorber or the waffle weave. I've found it to be a great time saver on big vehicles.

The leaf blower/vaccuum exhaust is a great tool too. I generally use it on the nooks and crannies before doing a full detail.

Take care,
Jerry

Its funny,,,,the first time I ever used the blower,,,,it was the shop vac with the blower,,,,Somebody watching me thought I was crazy,,,then I found out that alot of people use them. Makes me think -how much I still don't know!!

I use cheap MF rags from autozone to clean wheels, engine, ect, and a MF sponge on my paint. I wash them in the washing machine warm/warm with no fabic softner, and low heat on the drying. I havent seen any ill effects on my paint yet, and i get tons of compliments on my paint. Yes it is 11 years old and it has its blemishes, but once i get a PC, there will not be any more :D

AZ towels are o.k but the higher end MF towels are a lot softer/plusher. I bought some MF towels from exceldetail.com (blue ones) and these things are great. When you get your first high end towels you'll never go back....
