Agreed, they are not cheap, I think I paid @ $12 for mine a year or so ago. I have never experienced any linting with mine. Mirrors and glassware shine, lint free.
Not necessarily. I've been buying the Turtle Wax 12 x 16 MFs at Autozone (2 for $4.99) and they are great. Very plush and they work well for drying and removing polish and wax. A little grabby on glass though. I've been buying them since last summer and have almost 100 of them now.
for drying theres only one towel to use "BIG BLUE" http://www.properautocare.com/bigbludryint.html not sure what i ever did without it! as for removing wax/polish i agree with Scottwax the turtle was towels are great, i also use the meg ultimate wipe:xyxthumbs
