MF Towel Comparisons

I decided to do a little experiment with various MF towels. I only have three brands so I'll ask that those of you that have other brands please add to the list.
Since it's hard to get a feel for them viewing them on a monitor I decided to weigh them. Here's what I did. I have a postal scale and used that to weigh them.
These are all brand new and unused.

No.1_ Light green "Effortless" brand from RelectiveDetails.com. It looks just like the "Work Towel" from the Poorboys site. It has no label so I don't know what the composition is or where they're manufactured. It is the standard 16x16 inches. It feels light and not real thick. It weighed 1lb 7oz. These sell for $4.50 each.

No.2_ Blue "Ultra Microfiber" from Microfibertech.com. It looks and feels plush. Made in Korea of 80/20 Polyester/Polyamide. The label has the most complete Care Instructions I've seen so far. It is the standard 16x16 and weighs in at 1lb 9oz. Since they came with a promo kit I'd guess they're the "Basic" version that sells for $4.29 each.

No.3_ Yellow towel from Costco. The label says Euro & O'Reilly Corp. Made in China. Feels more plush than No.1, but not as plush as No.2. It is the standard 80/20 and has minimal washing instructions on the label. It weighs in the heaviest at 2lb 2oz. I gotta tell ya.... at 66 cents each It's a hard bargain to beat.

Conclusion: In retrospect I expected the most plush one to weigh the most, but this wasn't the case. So while it's not a scientific test by any means I've got to conclude that the heavier ones are the better ones. I do like the No.2's better, but I'll save them for the final finish

I'd like to see similar results for other brands -- anyone?

Is that 1 lb 7oz per towel!?! 10 towels?

OK, OK, I apologize -- I misread the scale. They are 1.7oz, 1.9oz, 2.2oz respectively. If I had been familiar with weights in grams I guess it would have been obvious to me as they are 46g, 50g, and 62g respectively.
Now that I have your attention.... :kneel

OK. I'll let you off just this once. ;)

Great post, BTW.

I agree about the Costco towels. I assume that you bought yours at the Kirkland Costco. So did I. Very inexpensive for the quality level.

I'm using mine for the dirtier stuff. If one get's ruined, well it's no big loss.

Regards,

Dan.
