Shawn F. said:I found that Auto Detailing Solutions carries a 6 pack of Optimum MF pads for only $40. That is about $10 off buying them separate and their shipping is reasonable and I believe free over $150 and sometimes free shipping deals. Also they offer discount codes sometimes. Optimum MF pads are the best option out there right now IMO.

fmodena said:Interesting...may I ask what compound/polish you were using? Did you compare both MF cutting and polish pads or just the cutting pads? And was the Aston Martin paint hard, medium or soft? I presume you were using a GG DA with 5" megs-5.25" Opt.pads.
gmblack3 said:Dynabrade, both MFs are 6" cutting pads, approx 66% M101 and 33% D300 on each pad. I would say the paint is medium to hard. I worked them both the same amount of time, same machine speed and same pressure. It sort of makes sense the Megs MF pad would have more cut, as the foam on the optimum pad is thicker. A thicker pad will absorb more of the motion of a D/A, thus reducing the cut. I guess you should also consider the MF material as well. In my estimation I'd say that the Optimum MF pad removed 50% of the defects in the same time that the Megs MF removed 80%.

How do you clean your MF pads (Optimum ones)? I have been having a separation issue with mine and while working with them I use a brush supplied by ADS in their 6 pack to clean them. At the end of the day I soak them in MicroRestore and warm water and rinse with cold water and air dry. After cleaning they seem to separate as soon as I use them or if they get hot the glue seems to melt and separate. Not every pad is doing this but 6 pads so far have done this to me and it's my only negative on the Optimum pads for me. Upon further searching, I am not the only one with this problem but there are others out there who have not had this issue and even tried to heat up the pad to separate and no problems still...
