anybody help me out? i have always used meqs 3 step w/ canuba wax, yesterday i tried meqs nxt, and today i'm reading in a thread that it dosent last long, does anybody think their is a longer lasting wax that also hides fine swirls and scratches??? it hid them really well yesterday, until i buy a pc someday... but i dont want to have to wax every month to hide the cobwebs, etc. this is my first black vehicle and i am learning... thanks

I own both, and what i've found is that the Deep crystal Carnuba wax seems to be a bit more durable. That is, on my daily driver which is outside 24/7. On my garaged car, the NXT lasted about the same as the carnuba....Kinda weird, i know, but that has been my experience.

I'd definitely recommend getting a PC, it has been one of the best investments i've made for my cars. :up

bigsled,

There are two dimensions when you say "lasts long". One is SHINE lasting, the other is PROTECTION lasting.

The protection in NXT lasts a long time. It's the most difficult product to remove from pads that I have ever used; I can barely get rid of it when I want to.

The shine is more problematic, and dependent on environmental conditions. On a garage kept vanity car, it lasts a long time. On an outdoors daily driver, the shine fades faster than some other products (but the protection is still there). The NXT Spray Booster Wax was developed to directly address this issue, and IMO the fact that the products were released at the same time is an implicit acknowledgement of this phenomenon. IMO, NXT should be seen as a two part system, incorporating the Tech Wax for the protection and the Spray Wax to maintain appearance.

The Spray Wax takes a while to catch on to. There's a nice tutorial at MOL outlining how to use it successfully. I didn't like it at first, then I caught on. Basically, you spray it on the applicator rather than the car, you quickly wipe it over the surface without care for coverage or working it in, and you wipe it off with a mf towel in each hand. Keep it away from crevasses and edges, or it won't be "quick".

thanks tom, one more question.. i'm interested in the shine and swirl hiding the most , do you think its the best for that? or at least close to it i dont want the swirls to be back every 2 weeks? also , if i use nxt too much will i get wax build up ? how do i know when its safe to use it again??

What Mosca said pretty well describes my experience. Excellent shine out of the gate that rivals any orther product I've used. The durability is quite good when measuring the protection. I've gone 3 months in one test and I was still getting a lot of beading and after a wash the looks were not bad either but not as good as after just applying it. The shine component does fade after a few weeks (4-6 for me). I have also learned how to use the booster. I also initially disliked the booster until I learned how to use it and now I like it a lot. I use the booster after every other wash since it only takes about 20 minutes to do a vehicle. What i end up with is a car that looks and feels freshly detailed for months on end with very little effort.

As far as swirl hiding NXT does a decent job at hiding them and regular use of the booster will keep them hidden. I've also found that NXT Tech Wax applies very well over #7 or #81 and NXT seems to seal in the wet look better than any carnauba ever did for me. Of, course if you have a lot of swirls and you're anal about your paint you should not rely on a glaze or a LSP to hide them but use a polish like #83 or #80 to remove them.
