Menzerna Waxes Compared To Zaino

Hello, I would like some help in determining which is a better product. Zaino or Menzerna. I have a dark colored pickup truck and want a very good product. I have used Zaino before, but seen someone's Burgundy colored car done in Menzerna.

That car looked quite wonderful. I am a novice to car detailing but want to keep my cars looking their best, since they are so expensive to buy.

My truck sits outside all the time is suspectible to rain, tree sap, birds, etc.

I really don't want to have to spend alot of money on trying all different types of Waxes etc.

I do have a PC 7424 with the Sonus Pads.

I find myself scouring the internet looking for the best products.

I have read great reviews on this site about Zaino and the Menzerna line of products.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Well, IMO, both have similar appearances, but it's hard to dispute Zaino's durability.

Remember, your true appearance will come from your prep work.

Are you referring to FMJ vs Z series? The only product in Menzernas lineup that is comparable to Zaino would be FMJ, atleast in the polish/wax category.

I agree with the above two. The Honda you were looking at was prepped with the CC. You could use the FP instead and then go to the FMJ. If you really love detailing or want to take it a step further, add the FTG inbetween the two. Or if you go the zaino route(go with the Z2 pro), but the same basic prep steps will still apply- clay, polish(your choice of polishes but if it has oils it must be stripped before zaino),and seal for best results. FMJ and Z2 pro are two of the blingingist(not a word) sealants out there, so as long as you follow the prep rule I don't think you can go wrong with either one. Someone on here will have a definite preference for you though, and they will chime in...

FMJ supposedly adds depth and the "wet look," something you don't hear too often when it comes to sealants. That being said, I don't think anything has been able to displace Zaino in the durability department, but I've never heard anybody touting Zaino for it's depth and ability to give a "wet look." I wax once a month, so I'll take looks over durability anyday.

I'll be testing Z2Pro vs FMJ as soon as the weather breaks. I will give initial appearance results and then will test durability long term. I have been using FMJ and Iam verry happy with this product

I have both and both are easy to use. As far the little bottles you just mix up what you need, couldn't be any easier. I know an ounce with 3-4 drops gives me 3 coats plus my rims. I actually like both but prefer Zaino because I like that fresh out of the showroom look its also extremely wet looking IMO. IMO I don't think there is anything more durable. I am currently debating which polish to use under Zaino with my new PC. I haven't noticed any difference in depth even with the souvran I have. I am anxious to see what proper prep will accomplish with my PC.

That's it Dogma :bow

I have been trying to think up for years the exact discription of what a properly prep finish appears after an application of Zaino. Instead of showroom I would state "paint booth". Wet, deep, excellent color hues, blinding and crisp reflections, extremely glossy and expectional smooth and even appearing.

Thinking of doing a durability test with FMJ and Zaino Z2-Pro.

I happen to have a car that's paint is not well taken car of and sits outside practically 24/7. Do I expect FMJ to even come close? Not really, but if it lasts a few months then I would be impressed. I certainly enjoy how FMJ applies and removes and it looks pretty good too.

What are the standard practices for these kinds of tests? I was thinking of dividing a large panel of the car, such as the hood and the trunklid into three parts: one for each of the sealants and then one for a control area. I could then wash the areas once every 2-3 weeks and use the respective QD sprays to and see if that is able to sustain the waxes well. Or does that skew the test?

I think they appear to both be high quality. However, I would only say if you have tried Zaino before you probably didn't try the new Pro right? The new Pro is a different product and is a very nice upgrade from the old Z. Menzerna results look very good too. You can't go wrong with either, but at least know if you get the Z it will be much deeper and wetter than the old Z.

Hi gas4man,

I have not used the Z2 pro yet, but will in the near future. But I am a big fan of FMJ. I don't know if you were talking about my Aunt's car, burgundy Honda I guess I'm in the running. FMJ so far is doing well for me, although I would have to give the durability score to Z2 pro even without using it. But that's only because Z2 is the best durability sealant I have used so far. Now in a few months I may change my mind with my findings on FMJ durability. As far as looks, I don't think anything can hang with FMJ at this time, but I'm on the lookout! Here's a pic of my Aunt's Accord, am I the one you were talking about!

04 Cobra' Honda is definetly the shine we are all looking for, but I think the prep job on that it what makes it stick out. I wouldn't necessarily by FMJ thinking I was going to get those results w/o polishing with those Menzerna polishes first. Very nice though, it doesn't get any wetter than that.

I have to agree with BurlyQ on the prep. Without PO85RD underneath the FMJ on the Accord I did, it wouldn't look like that. But on the other hand, without the FMJ it wouldn't look like that either. So together they are a killer combo. The PO85RD is incredible in ease of use, and overall look. IMO it can't be beat, and it gives me the results I was looking for!:D
