Menzerna steps

After reading much of the good advice, on this site I have a few questions. I am trying to figure out a detailing solution for my cars. One (black) has slight watermarking and oxidation and the other (white) is in much better shape only having minimal spidering from washing. I dont know which of these products for each step will be best.

Steps:

Intensive Polish or Power Finish

Final Polish or Final Polish II

Finishing Glaze or Klasse AIO

Collonite 845

I was also thinking about maybe using a 105 (Meguiars) as a first step, unless the Intensive polish or power finish remove the need for it.

What will be a good maintenance setup, can I get away with just the 845 or do I need to KAIO and 845?

I would try the SIP first to see if it get the correction you need. Not knowing what kind of cars you have it is tough to tell. Some have harder CC that SIP will only correct a bit. IF this is the case then you might have to start with 105. I have had SIP correct everything before and then had SIP jsut clear up after 105.

Usually I can go straight to a final polish after SIP.

Most glazes are for looks only (slick). But if the car is polished correctly, you can go straight to the LSP. I have been using DWG lately for a little extra protection for winter, with a LSP top. Z5, Z2, or Fuzion have been my flavors of the month.

But you are missing the whole pad choice in this discussion.

Can I go straight from meg 105 to FPII or 85RD instead of doing the 203 step in between?

Also on slightly older paint jobs(01 civic, 03 altima) would FPII be better than 85RD? It seems that 85RD doesnt cut as much, but I would think that would be better for any paint.

I have gone from 205 to 85RD with no problems at all. I think you would have a problem going from 105 to 85RD without a step in the middle.

I, too, have gone from 205 to 85 RD without a problem. However, having worked with 105, I would agree with Street, and offer that you might want to go with 105-205-85RD.

:2thumbs: However 3m Ultrafina with a blue pad will give you the ultimate finish.

Ultrafina also fills more than any finishing polish I have ever used. Although I only use it if the surface is already corrected but I would take 85rd over Ultrafina any day for looks and correction.

I've heard a lot of good things about Ultrafina, though I don't own any. On my Black Sapphire 128i, I used 205 and 85RD, since it was only very slightly marred by the dealer when new (through a miscommunication, they prepped it).

After the 85RD, out came the Brinkmann, and I searched for marring. I was happy with it, so out came the Blackfire Wet Diamond.

On a less-than-new car, it may not be possible (or feasable) to eliminate every bit of imperfections. I could see where Ultrafina would work nicely.

Getting a really clear, glossy finish did show me one thing. This BMW has more orange peel than a grove in Florida.
