well i bought a winter beater car yesterday and was loaded with swirls and what not. so today, i decided to tape the middle of the trunk and see what performs better. each was done with a lake county polishing pad and a pc with speeds starting at 3.5 then to 5 then to 6 for the final pass. let the pics speak for themselves

First up: the swirls i was dealing with

next is menzerna intensive polish:

here is poorboys ssr 2.5:

.

heres both:

conclusion: both are very good and i liked them a lot better than megs #83. there is very little hazing and if this was a light color, you could easily go straight to your lsp. the ip worked in quicker then the ssr 2.5 but i believe that the ssr 2.5 gave just a slight better results, not by much tho. this was also done using a polishing pad not a cutting pad. both polishes are great and recommend either of them.

my car is a 96 mazda 626 with 120,000 miles. got it from a friend for $350 and runs great.

also, yes i do have an rsx type s

thanks. i know the results could be much better if i followed up with ssr 1 and fpII but im not gonna waste that much product for this. i just wanted to see the swirl removing abilities of both

hey can you give some more details as to what you did or just these two details:

how many passes/applications with each product?

how long did you work each product per application?

I have 2.5 and haven't had the best results with it.

Nice comparison but try wiping down both sections with a 50/50 mix of IPA and water then re-evaluate the results. You may be surprised.

I want to see this result too. :)

I think I may do this side-by-side myself on a black hood, both with PC and rotary... as well as the IPA wipedown. If I get around to it, I'll post pics :)

alright, first i washed the trunk, then clayed it, then i taped off the middle. then started with the ssr 2.5 on a speed of 3 to spread it around, then made 2 slow passes on 4.5 and then 2 slow passes on 6 and wiped off. the same process for the menzerna ip. it took me about 3-4 mins for each product

i am a huge fan of the IP, i use it with a yellow cutting pad and have never had any hazing problems.

then i decided to try the ssr2.5 and did not like it all that much. i did not see the results as i did with the IP especially on swirled darker paints.

ssr2.5 is a nice product and i would use it, but i think i am going to stick to the IP
