Menzerna FP II VS Poorboy's SSR 1

I have to respectfully disagree.

If we're comparing FPII to SSR1:

FPII on a polish or finish pad, cleans up much better than SSR1 (if you're inspecting with indecent, strong halogen, or bright sunlight). I've worked with them both too many times to count on DA's and rotaries. Menzerna is easier to work with (IMO). Will a customer pick it out -maybe not -most look for gloss/depth, but I can sure see a difference on my paint. I'm not trying to start a holy war here, but IMHO, I think there is a noticeable difference. I use several Poorboys and Menzerna products, so I'm not trying to say one line up is crap and the other is awesome -but when it comes to polish, I've been hard pressed to find anything better than Menzerna polishes. -Just my opinion, and I'm not trying to cause a heated debate.

You have not said anything that was untrue or to cause a heated debate. In my earlier post I think that I said as much about FPll being a better product.

I have seen your work. Read your posts. I think that you qualify as an experienced detailer. Given that I understand how you would consider FPll a much better product. But to a beginner or an inexperience eye of an owner I truly doubt that they would see a difference.

cwcad -My bad. I didn't mean to point my comments in your direction -but I guess my post does read that way. My apologies.

Moving on.... I agree with your SSR1/FPII comparison. At some point it's all in the eye, and most people don't look for the minor stuff -especially when so many toppers hide it.

They are both great, but for me the FPII takes the cake. I havnt found a better polish that finishes so perfect (other than po85rd). Optimum comes close but thats a different thread all together. I love the way SSr1 wipes off from the panel, and FPII just doesnt wipe off as easy , but the finished product for me is that FPII takes the cake.

I just ordered some more Poorboys chemicals and I ordered FPII just to give it a shot.

I hope it is here by Friday - I am working from home ahem detailing my car. ill do some SSR 1 / FPII before and after shots on either a 6 month old black Cayenne or a 3 week old black Saab.

Got to be done by the time my wife gets home, I am supposed to be working hard to pay for my new toys.

Will look forward to your observations.

When you get done have your wife or some other person to make a judgement as to the looks. Who ever you pick make sure that they do not have a background in detailing. Hopefully who ever you pick will support my theory....Yet I may be wrong. Who knows....?

I have just use the Menzerna intensive polish and Final polish 2. I actually find that is not that easy to use and the compounding result is not the greatest. The final polish is pretty good. It gives a good depth and gloss on my paint. I use SSR 1 and it's easy to work with and i can do it under the sun. I actually thank the Poorboy is a better product.

Did you use a rotorary with the menzerna products

polishing in the sun would be something I wouldnt do myself.
Glad you like SSR1 and it meets your needs.

The Menzerna didnt come in time for my day off, nothing to compare....

I used SSR 2.5 and a Blue Edge 2000 followed with SSR 1 and a white Edge 2000 pad on a Makita Rotary at 1200rpm.

By hand:
Zaino Z-5 x 2 (ZFX)
Zaino Z-6 in between coats of Z-2 and Z-5
Zaino Z-2 x2 (ZFX)
Zaino Z-8 finish

I used all Poorboys ultra-plush towels and the new pink towel for the Z-8.

This was done on Friday and rained on. I washed it this morning with Z-7 and did a Z-8 wipe down. I am happy with the results, but I think I like the look of carnauba wax better. I didnt detail the car, I just wanted to apply the sealant, this sits at the train station all day.

comments? Suggestions?

I actually powerwashed (1750psi) the car with Z-7 and a new microfiber mitt to get all of the dried polish out of the body lines and trim.
