Menzerna Ceramiclear Polish and FMJ Full Review (finally)

I actually called Menzerna and asked about those polishes and he said that these polishes were meant for use as an oem product for the manufactuer working on the car when it is painted. They are not intended to be used on cars for reconditioning purposes and he doesn't know how they would work for that purpose.

He also said that cma just ordered some of these polishes so they should be available from them in the not to distant future. The price he quoted me was $36-40 per quart which is too expensive for me but maybe it will be cheaper from cma.

My guess would be that they would work well for detailing purposes and I think that advertising a specialization in ceramiclear paint could bring in some good business.

As for CMA willingness to carry the polishes, let me post this email I received from them.

This is a tough one. Iâ€â„¢m familiar with both of these products. It comes down to time, money and return on investment. We must have a certain volume to bring in a new product and there are not enough vehicles with the Ceramiclear finish to justify the investment we would have to make to bring in these polishes. We also met with BASF at NACE to learn about their new super hard clear. At present this is only on the Maybach and 05 Rolls Royce. BASF tells us they are trying to solve the repair/refinishing problems with this finish in the field. At present if either of these cars need paintwork the only solution is to use a conventional paint and âہ“softâ€Â clear coat that does not exactly match the clarity and certainly does not match the hardness of their OEM clear coat.

As for the use on OEM lines, that IS correct! It is made for OEM/Tier1 use while vehicles are on final finish or quality control. It just seems to work for removing paint damage and providing a high quality gloss even out in the field (detailing).

What we are finding is that with a selection of pads on a rotary these polishes work like magic in the right hands. It DOES take time to develope the right application for them to work effectivly in the field.

If CMA or others carry it that would be great for those of you who received samples from me and other people. Yes it's expensive and some may find other polishes work just as well for less $$.

Let's see if CMA will carry these.

Deanski

Deanski! Glad to see you here again :xyxthumbs

EEK! I don't want to hear about any harder clears!

I'll bet the Menzernas work even faster/easier on brand spankin' new paint still on the assembly line

I wish they could put it out there for a bit. I know once people try this stuff, it's hard to go to any other polish.

That's why PO85RD and PO106 are the only 2 polishes I use now. They truly are amazing even with a PC. I'm going to give the rotary a try using these polsihes this weekend. As for the cost, you get what you pay for, and this IMO opinion is worth it if you want the best results. For me, these 2 polishes give me the results I want. And I have to agree with Sean, if you try these polishes, it will be hard to use anything else!

When I get results like this, the menzerna line is well worth it to me!! PO85RD and FMJ x2:

If they're going to be sold to the general detailing public, I think they need a re-name : this PO business seems way too cryptic, for me, anyway.( I always thinking of someone heading off to the PO to mail a package when I see these labels) Much like Micro Polish was re-named FP II ( no idea why  ) a "plain English" name for these two is the only thing they really need.

The PO85RD doesn't have a name really. But according to my invoice from Jeff@Menzerna, the PO106 is called Nano polish!:nixweiss

Oh yeah, I do recall that name. Sounds like the 85RD is going to need one. Maybe CMA or whoever will distribute them will come up with one.

I was thinking about trying FPII this spring, but after seeing O4cobra's detail, I think I might try PO85RD. I e-mailed CMA and it didn't sound like they were going to be restocking, so I might be ordering a bottle soon. I was also thinking about planning a "group buy", if I order 2 (32 oz) bottles of PO85RD it would be $89.90 with free shipping and if I cut them into 16 oz bottles it would cost around $23-24 bucks for a bottle. I really don't think anyone needs more than 16 oz of this product at this time. Anyone interested in a possible "group buy" pm me, maybe I can set it up.

Might not be worth all that hassle and expense ,I have both you mentioned and I reserve the PO85RD for extremely rare occassions, so rare it's been quite some time since I've touched it, I've been working a bit with FP II lately and if you are a Menzerna fan, I'd definitely recommend it. I think David sells the 16 oz size and TOL and Premium Auto Care have the 32oz.

I was probably going to try it with or without a group buy, just though i'd justify the price a little bit. I'm sure the FPII would work good, but i'd always have PO85RD>FPII in gloss, yelling in the back of my mind.

I'm pretty sure David discontinued his Menzerna (IP and FP), but TOL and PAC still have it.

Something I've tried recently and with notable success for the kind of stuff that just bugs you under under very intense lighting is 3m PI III MG followed by FP II both done with white LC pads. I focus on a very small area taping it off from the rest with blue painter's tape and work with great patience. Nice results.

Sean, it was from your review that convinced me to buy the FMJ to compliment my IP and FP that I use already. I should be getting it from CMA tomorrow along with the detail spray. Thanks! I'm going to switch over from Klasse AIO and SG altogether!

I'm curious if anyone has tried the "finishing touch glaze" in between the FP and FMJ, or the PO85RD and FMJ and saw any noticeable improvements? Sean that last time you used FP and FMJ, do you think it would've been possible to even look better with the finishing touch glaze in the middle?

that accord looks incredible!! what year is that 93'??? is it original paint on there??

fantastic results!!!!

i can not wait till SPRING!!!

these pics are killing me!!!!!!!

So where can one pick up the ceramiclear polishes? I checked cma and found nothing.

You have to call or e-mail either MenzernaUSA or CMA, they aren't posted on their websites.
