Menzerna & Black C280

I started this MB last week but due to the bad weather we had here I was unable to complete the detail until today.



It is a re-paint with hard water spots and pitting so I wasn't expecting too much but it cleaned up OK.



I was going to top this with a carnauba but it sits outside all day so I went with FMJ, no carnauba topper.



I have a couple of BEFORE shots below, the "stain" appears to be tree sap that looks as if it was partly wiped off, or better ground in:D
 
Here is another angle of the hood and passenger fender. Had a few bird shots on there also with one that etched the clear real bad.



It has a little marring.



This is the same hood I used for my Cyclo test to see if it could remove swirls.........in case anyone was thinking they had seen this hood before;)
 
I leveled the paint with a rotary, orange pad and a product from Hi-Temp called Magnum 357.



I then went over that in some spots with Menzerna PG and a polishing pad.



Next came Menzerna IP and a polishing pad on the rotary.

After the IP I switched to a Lake Country black finishing pad and with FP closed the paint, or burnished it at about 1200 RPM's.

Like I said earlier, I wanted to use that black carnauba wax but since it is outside all day I opted for the FMJ.



The FMJ though gives it a carnauba like finish.

:bow: That is an absolutely amazing transformation, Anthony! FMJ really looks good on that final hood shot. Just curious, how much time did you put into just the exterior? You used a lot of steps so I know it wasn't a 2 hour quickie!
 
Another fender shot.......I was trying to catch the sun but it was playing hide-and-go-seek with me.



Hi-Temp Poly Spray on the wheels and Hi-Temps water based tire dressing on the tires.

Hey thanks Scott:D



No this was no 2 hour quickie.......I had the car for several days since he just bought a new SL 55. So I did a little here and a little there as time allowed between other cars.



If I had to guess I would say I put in about 4 to 5 hours total on just the exterior, not including the wash. It took along time but I don't get alot of cars where I can just have them for days and try new things, especially black ones!



Yeah the FMJ is some really great stuff.....I had all these topper options going through my head as I am doing the initial leveling steps but I find myself always reaching for the FMJ.



By the way, my product bin is getting VERY crowded:shocked

Wow, that is quite the transformation, :bow to you. Does the owner realize what work out put into his paint to get it lookin so damn good? I sure hope so

Just resized one last pic, thought I would post it before I go do a few cars. hate working Sundays but with nothing but rain every day last week, I have alot of catching up to do.



This is a "hey look at me in the reflection!" shot.......it's so Zaino-ish of me.

Hey thanks Eric........I used on the wheels a product called Poly Spray. It is a liquid polymer "quick shine" product from Hi-Temp.



Super glossing abilities and works great for a quick wash N wax because you can use it while the car is still wet with water. Does not stain molding and works great on glass and chrome.
