Menzena 106FF on German car

well I am going to detail a 05 MB E320

do I really need German green pad + Menzena 106FF to detail it?



I was going to buy Menzena FPII + Intensive polish then I saw that article on CMA



the reason I ask is because I don't have alot of money to spend.



If Mother's Power Polish with CMA orange, white, yellow pads would achieve pretty much the same result I'd want to go with that route.





btw I am using PC
 
When in Germany do as the Germans do!!!!

Spring for the double F's and get yourself a CCS orange pad !!!!
 
start with IP on a light cut pad. IE the green edge 2000. then do a 50/50 alcohol water wipe down.

then do a fpII on a polish pad. 50/50 wipe down. go straight to your fmj sealant.

Menzerna PO106FF have more cut then the "old" IP. Use it with a LC CSS pad like the orange, more cut then the green one but finishes out very nice.



I have ordered the green and orange pad from danase to test with my top tool, dual CSS5,25" pads would be very nice :D

so it pretty much means I don't really need 106FF to get the job done??......

You don't even use the green pad that's made for it......and what if I use something else that has even more cut like SSR2.5 or Optimum HC.....



I am just trying to clear up CMA's info...that info gave me the impression that in order to detail MB's car one would need 106FF with green pad or else it won't work.



If it will work with other product I would just buy something else.....since Menzerna's product is pretty much doubled in its price...FF is even worse 3.5 times the price of Optimum.



it's like spending money on Sourveran when you can buy Natt's blue. Sourveran works better but not necessary...



So can someone else chime in......I am getting pretty confused here.

I thought my question is straight forward; however, I keep getting ambiguous answers in this forum:wall

such as.....any product will be work or FF is the only thing that'll work or any Menzerna prodcut will cut it.....
 
Menzerna is obviously not the only polish you can use. OC and OP will also do an admirable job. Other choices include Meguiars #80/83.
 
You can use PO106FF with all pads in the whole world. CMA is not right about it useless with anything but the green pad.

I don't think they actually say it won't work..just that you'll get good results with it.



I did order the green pads that they recommend when I picked up some BF SRCFP because I had excellent results with FPII and the Orange pad that they also recommend
 
Depending on how hard the paint is will tell you wich pad to use. Harder will need a more agressive pad (Orange) while a softer paint will require a softer pad (green/white polishing) if the finish is not too bad. A PC will need a stiffer pad anyway for it to remove swirls. If using a rotary, watch your speed.



If it's loaded with swirls, you'll need a aggressive pad to cut down and let the polish break down to finish. Once all the big swirls are gone, yes you can drop to a softer pad and break down 106FF to really get the gloss very high.



Follow with a quick wipe down and apply your wax or sealant.

I have and use the CCS Green pad on german paints or euro paint, BMW, and My MINI (bmw) and I am really impressed with gloss it brings out, it does a great job, I would try the green pad cause it spose to polish and cut at the same time, just like the PO106FF

on scratch resistant clearcoat also? I just read Optimum VS Menzerna thread......it's a mess lol and several people claim Optimum didn't do much on MB paint



only 106FF will work....lol



will VM or AIO sub for FPII or 106FF?
 
believe none of what you hear and read, then only believe half of what you see.



No disrespect to the membership but this is a forum, a forum based on opinions and conjecture focused by personal experience and history. How people judge a product versus another is completely up to the eye of the beholder.. Take everything witha grain of salt, glass of whiskey and 10 asprin.

yah...that's what i figure so far

but I gotta find out the answer right?.....I don't have money to buy everything to test it out that's why I need to know before I use it.....



and shipping is usually 8 dollars.....which is almost 1/3 of the polish price
 
My personal experience:



I would have saved alot of money buying the polish I really wanted instead of buying 2 or 3 hoping I'd save some bucks.



106FF/BF is the only polish I'm aware of designed for the ceramic clear coats..does that mean others won't work eventually? No..but it's a bit of a gamble...and if it doesn't work to your satisfaction, you end up spending more money than you would initially.



I'd like to see a big product comparison test on a ceramic clearcoat! Or hear from people that have worked on these harder clearcoats with a variety of products

I don't really care about the Menzerna finish because I am going to top it off with VM-->EX-P --> Natty's Blue so it's alright....



I am just wondering if it'll actually correct with Optimum or Mother's product.
