Meguiars Wheel Brightener

Not trying to start trouble, just want everyone to be safe.

My grandfather worked with 'safe' chemicals for years. It didn't do any harm in the short term but as he got older everything that he had been exposed to started to catch up with him. It eventually killed him. If your using WB for personal use and follow precautions, I guess your not at too much risk. However for the guys that handle the stuff everyday I would want to really think about reducing my risk as much as possible.

Be safe, and don't forget to watch out if you have a pet too. My dog always likes to sniff around after I wash my car. Make sure to dilute what ever is left on the ground as much as you can with the hose.

Meg's WB works great to clean up the back-side of wheels, I use it about every 2-3 months. I have never had any issues with the stuff although I do use latex gloves, safety goggles and a put a towel over my mouth & nose when spraying. Not that I think will kill you if you get some wind blow back in your face but I would rather be safe than sorry for an extra 3 minutes of work and less than $1 in supplies I think it's a cheap insurance policy.

When I first used WB i had not touched the back of my wheels in 2 years (got the idea from autopia) so I used WB full strength and it just ate that grime up fast. After that for maintenance I would cut the WB to a 50/50 dilution and it works just fine.

One word of caution, be aware of which way the wind is blowing because you DON't want that stuff blowing back on your car. Most of the time I will jack my car up and take off all 4 wheels to knock em out at once, now and then I do get lazy and blast them with WB while the wheels are still on the car. During my lazy stage i will always keep a water hose close by just in case it blows onto the car then I can quickly hose it off.

All in all, WB is nothing to be afraid of and it does do the job just take the proper precautions.:bigups :bigups

I would probably only being using it once just for the back sides of the wheels. My family has only 3 cars which would need it so I wouldnt be dealing with it all the time just once to clean the wheels for each car, then I could maintain them well enough not to use it again.

I used Meguiars Wheel Brightener when the wheels on my wife's car got REALLY dirty. (I was gone for two years in the Army and my wife does not take care of her car. Oh well.) Wheel Brightener did an okay job of getting them clean when nothing else would.

If your car is new, the best solution is to take your wheels off and wax them with WheelWax. They are much easier to clean after they are waxed.

I bought some WB, and it works great! It is really a great product, but I'm trying to give mine away - the risks associated with FHA are too great.

So if anyone is around southwest Michigan, its yours!

I start coughing from APC mixed 10:1 but not from WB mixed 4:1 I don't think it's any dangerous as long as you use common sense. Which should be there all the time with everything you do anyway.

I think you get a couple internet threads posted and all the sudden it might as well be Anthrax. I have used a ton of WB and never had an issue. I've got it in my mouth, eyes, and on my skin. Never had an issue with it. It's not like you are bathing in and drinking the stuff. I doubt it's any more dangerous than the fumes you get pumping gas and I have yet to see anybody wearing a gas mask fueling up their Prius.

I don't understand the fear regarding this product. Companies like Meguiars and autogeek.net wouldn't sell it if it were essentially poison.

Dilute it 4:1, wear gloves, and clean your wheels 75% faster than any brush and scrub routine.

I use the stuf on the sirtiest of wheels I encounter, and yeah as I was spraying got some blow back in my face and inhaled a bit and coughed, but the same goes for APC+ which is my regular go to wheel cleaner.

I wear nitrile gloves and saftey glasses when I do wheels with WB, so I don't ever feel like I'm in danger.

It's a great product, and I think if you're smart about using it, you'll never have any concerns with it.
