Meguiars Ultimate Protectant

The order states "Meguiar's G14512 Ultimate Protectant - 12 oz., Pack of 6" If they only send one I dispute the order with Amazon and my CC company. Either way I can't lose.

Lot of work (and somewhat unfair) when you know all you're trying to do is take advantage of a listing error. Oh,well...to each his own.

There is no way to know conclusively if this is a listing error. It could be a clearance. It could be an over-supply issue. It could be that the seller got a volume buy from the manufacturer or perhaps the seller is dropping that line of products. We simply don't know.

I'd also not conclude that this is in any way unfair. If the seller deems it a listing error he can simply cancel the order. Not a lot of work to place an order for what seems like a good deal. I'd not presume to know how or why the seller has set his price, that's his business.

Looks like a listing error:

Hello from the auto alley

I am sorry for the confusion but the description on the amazon web site is false. The item is for one each not one six pack. We are currently working with amazon.com trying to change the item and description. I am unable to ship this order to you and will send your order to our credit department for a refund. I apologize for the error and for any inconvenience you may incur we do appreciate your business and understanding.

Thank you

Would this product be able to replace my 303?

I assume you mean 303 protectant, and I have no experience with it other than what I have read, so I could offer no comment as a replacement.

I will say....

Ultimate protectant has a light cleaning ability but it's main purpose is to protect and restore your vinyl and plastic trim back to it's original color and quite possibly even better. Applied to a clean surface it bonds to the surface as wax would to your car's paint. This gives it a long lasting protection from UV damage and beads water for a good long time. Used sparingly it dries quickly and leaves no greasy finish as other protectants do.

Try some and give us the comparison between the two.....

not that easy to compare 303 to ultimate protectant. 303 is very thin and oily feeling and has no cleaning properties. UP is the thickest protectant in my collection, both good and bad imo. it also isnt greasy and has light cleaning properties. i would recommend 303 for interior only and UP for exterior only. just my 2 cents after using both frequently. one cant really replace the other.

And... gonna have to redo or reapply on the exterior trim after removing Black Wow; it's uneven looking.

Not crazy about the satin like sheen for the interior (still sheeny) but i'm guessing most folks would like it.

Gonna reserve judgment for the moment as it doesn't initially strike me as being really different/better.

And, durability is part of it's claim so gotta wait... Still, for $10 bucks, its a better buy than Black Wow.

Is it possible you are applying too heavy a coating? With Ultimate protectant you need use very sparingly as a little goes a long way, then work product into the trim well. The entire windshield cowling on my truck (which is a fairly good size area) can easily be done with a quarter size dallop. I can't stress enough to really work the product in well as you would when waxing your car. Failure to do so might give you a streaky or uneven result. And most important for maximum durability is to apply to an absolute cleaned surface.

i was very careful and deliberate but its possible that i applied it a bit too heavy; used a cotton/fabric applicator pad.

My car is somewhat old (04 I35) but in great condition and only a few exterior trim pieces need attention; the cowling

looks great now but the base of the side mirrors and door pillar trim pieces are ugly streaky. But it was already streaky

with Black Wow and was hoping MUP would even it out. i'll try again in a week or so... the Interior is no longer as "sheeny"

and there are a few "dry" spots that im sure to have gone over. User error...

Quick update:

Maybe it's just me but i'm not liking UP. Tried again on a very clean 08 Lexus GS 350.

And, again, like on my own car, it doesn't coat evenly; doesn't spread well and looks

blotchy. However, it does look great on raw plastics...

Not just you I have the same problem. It also didn't last through one rain. Another thing I didn't like was the bottle it comes in. The lid makes it a pain to apply to an applicator. The hole is recessed into the lid. I prefer a pop up type thing.

That's odd. I use it on my RX330 and it is excellent. I get no streaking or blotchyness at all. I've used this on my old 91 MR2 as well and it made the cowling look brand new. I use this on the exterior textured vinyl with great results. I apply with a foam pad and buff with a microfiber. How are you applying it? I have not used it on the interior of the RX330. I use QID there. Where are you seeing this blotchyness?

You and I must have different products. I've had this on my RX for several weeks and it doesn't wash off in the rain. It doesn't wash off in routine weekly washing either. This stuff lasts for weeks for me.
