Meguiars Show Car Shine Kit ~ $20 at Target

Hi Zippy, probably the best book is to print out the detailing archives prepared by David Bynon.

When I was first suggested to go to this site, I printed up the tips and tricks. Probably the most up-to-date info you'll find.

Problem with some detailing books is that they might still be stuck in the "old school" way of detailing; cotton diapers, saddle soap, etc.

I bought 15 years ago. I would agree with Beau on the point that the info and materials being used are ancient which renders the book almost worthless. Many of the products pictured don't even exist any longer (thank God!).

I think Beau's suggestion of printing a bunch of David's articles is the most practical thing to do and it doesn't cost anything.

FYI: While we are on the topic of education, Porter-Cable users can find a helpful "tutorial" @ Meguiar's site which discusses and explains technique. Everyone can pick up a few pointers over there.

Link to the Meguiar's tutorial=>>"Clinic"

I agree with beau. When I joined on the forum, or really before (cause I didnt want to irritate the advanced forum by beating a dead horse) I went to the archives read up on those and also went to the http://carcarespecialties.com/ site. Here you can find a lot of good stuff to. I acutally printed out just about all of the articles posted on this site and took them to school and on my down time.. and on my on time :D .. read them. Just wanted to have some knowledge before I came in here firing beat questions and "Who likes Armor All?" posts.

Although I did say Meguairs Wheel Cleaner is a "GEM".. which I must say.. when you got a car that hasnt seen a wash mitt in a year, this stuff can be one of your best friends.

PassatPunk.

I bought the Griots book and it had quite a few tips that I didn't know at the time. I bought it almost a year ago. It's not really a catalog, but I have learned more in the few months that I have been reading posts on this site.

i agree that this site is an excelent recourse but i disagree about using it soley (sp). Read as many non biased books and aticles as you can. If you read 52 books on a subject your a world resource on that subject (of course just reading doesnt make you a good detailer alone)

I had to go to three different Targets to find it, ended up finding it at the last one I went to. Not a bad deal at all for $20, I grabbed two of them but if they go on sale you can sure bet I will grab more.

I hate that tech wax! I used the paste on my black explorer and all it did was streak. I was not impressed but the rest of the products I love

Does that say Quik Glass Cleaner? Did this replace NXT Glass Cleaner (I thought NXT was the only Glass Cleaner Meg's sold?)...

Geeze I feel left out! (Calls Barry....)

Hey Todd,

A while back I remember one of the Mikes on MOL say that the Quik Glass Cleaner was only available through gift packs and such. The NXT Glass Cleaner is still around I believe but I am down to my last bottle. And then there is the Meguiars Glass Cleaner Concentrate which I have also.

I think I am ready to clean some glass

Those products for that price are a bargain. I went to the local Target. No luck.....

Yeah, I went to three different Targets. The first two just had Armor All and Turtle Wax gift packs, then I went to the third one and found them. They might be still making their way into stores too.
