Meguiars Show Car Glaze and Polymer Sealant

I dont think he said that....please reread his post.

he said "Also, forget about the idea of using 3M's cleaner wax to remove swirls"

where does he say not to use any 3m product? 3m has several quality products to get Oxidation and swirls.

I didn't mean it like not to use the 3M products. I was asking what would one recommend to remove the scratches and how does one apply it (all over the car or only on the parts that are scratched?). Also, is it too abrasive to damage the finish?

Each car is different, Davids book is a great place to start investigating.

Technique is very important. I use 3m's products on cars that have oxidation and some contamination. If the paint is in good shape I use a cleaner Meguiars, Pinnacle, Plantinum.

Then if I go the glaze route I machine/show car glaze it then my wax. If I go Klasse I use it.

Got to prepare that paint before you but wax or polymer on it!!...

Have to make sure if a product needs breaking down (fine cut) you should have a PC or equivalent. or Rotary

Davids book is good read to build a foundation....then technique and practice..

I just finished talking to the folks at Meguiars in Canada and they suggested the following for my problem:

After washing the car, apply ScratchX fine scratch and swirl remover then apply the Show Car Glaze #7, followed by their Professional Paste Wax #16. This should provide me with a 3 to 4 month protection.

I was told the polymer is long lasting but not too shiny and the women I spoke to says she uses this combo on her cars and it works just fine. :xyxthumbs

Any thoughts? :nixweiss

If you are going to use a wax there are much better one's available than Meguiars. One Grand Blitz for example, gives very good depth and warmth and will last several months.

How does this combo sound:

After washing the car,

1) apply Meguiars ScratchX fine scratch and swirl remover

2) then apply the Show Car Glaze #7,

3) Then S100 Carnauba wax (from the local Harley Davidson store)

Will this give me a good shine and 3 to 4 months of durability and is easy to apply?

Could I apply multiple layers of S100 Carnauba? Is there any issues with applying the scratch remover over top of the S100 and then the #7 and then the S100 again?

S100 caranuba wax is not very durable. It's the P21s concours wax that is repackaged. It's a good wax, just not a durable one. It will probably last about 2-3 weeks. It's mostly intended for show cars or garage queens.

Oh, and you don't apply wax then put a scratch remover over it. The abrasives in the scratch remover will remove the wax.

Then I should just go with some Mothers Pure Carnauba wax Phase 3 or the 3M Show Car Paste Wax and add a coat every month

I heard the #26 Hi-Tech wax gives good shine, and lasts longer than plain waxes because it's a blend. Available in economical paste form too.
