Meguiars quick wheel detail

I picked up a bottle of this for my chrome wheels, and I must say it works great. It gets rid of water spots as well as some grime left over from washing.

Anywase, for those with chrome wheels, I recommend this product.

I use it on my painted silver wheels and have had great success so far. I just started using it, but it's got a place in my line-up now.

I've been playing around with quick-cleaning the Blazer's wheels (the guy who's buying it won't mind ;) ) so this got my attention.

How does it comoare to using QEW/ONR and/or QDs? Somebody please educate me on how it's better....

I don't know the exact answer, but it works, well.....

I use to use windex on my chrome wheels and that worked as well, but it seems like the MG wheel QD has a little more cleaning power as well as leaves them with a nice shine and completely removes water spots with ease.

Instead of using my expensive Zaino QD on my wheels, I will stick with the 5$ bottle of Mequiars quick wheel detail.

I would also like to know how it compares to a QD for quick touchups on wheels. I use ONR QD for just about everything these days (QD, glass cleaner, clay lube, wheels......) so I'm wondering if it's worh the money.

Hmm...I wouldn't want to use Windex/etc. as it'd strip the LSP on my wheels (I've used window cleaners for LSP-stripping) so I can imagine the Meg's stuff being better than that.

Chrome is nice and hard, I can see things working OK on it that would mar paint. None of my wheels are chromed though; the "machined" finishes look similar but will mar a lot easier.

At present I'm cleaning the Blazer wheels with QEW (plan to try ONR) and then spraying with FK425. No way I'd try this on the good wheels (caused *very* light micromarring on the MPV's painted wheels), but a bit of micromarring on the Blazer's won't bug me too much so I want to experiment before I sell it. I'd like to get this just-the-wheels cleaning all sorted out so I can use it on the other dog-hauler's wheels without marring them, but if I can't get it to work I'll just stick with regular washes.

I tested it against my ONR QD and found that the ONR worked better in terms of cleaning power and I did not notice a notice in looks.

edit: I did not notice a difference in looks. My test consisted of spraying Megs on my left front big brake caliper and paying attention to the effort it took to clean off the grunge. Then I went to right front and did the same. I found it less effort with my ONR QD mixture

Besides the cost aspect compared to using something like ONR QD, I'd hate to ruin so many towels on wheels. Even on clean wheels they get ruined, imagine QDing dirty wheels. I'm not that anal that I can't wait to clean my wheels until the next time I wash my car.

Someone mentioned using baby wipes not long ago. I'd rather go that route first before I spent $5 on a dedicated wheel quick detailer. I'd save the $5 for lunch or a cold glass of beer.

I keep a seperate stack of MF (the walmart ones) for wheel cleaning, door jams, etc. A good cleaning QD can work, so that is why I use ONR and it is cheaper.

Thanks for the info.

BlackElantraGT- I just let mine go on the good cars too, but the beaters usually have really nasty-looking wheels long before I'm ready to wash them (washing the big dog-haulers is a pain).

While I use already-stained towels for stuff like this, I've been pleasantly surprised at how well they come clean.

I'd wonder about what stuff baby wipes might leave behind...and would they really be cheaper than detailing products

BigAl3- Some of my vehicles get such awful brakedust that my QDs are outmatched. They'd probably work OK if I did it all the time, but I'm not a something-every-day type of detailer.

So you would rather spend the 5$ on baby wipes which also only serves one purpose, unless you have a baby and you happen to be detailing and wiping the kids *** at the same time, haha, sorry I found rather humerous. Also, spend 5$ on a glass of beer:shocked talk about a waste of money. No offense, but your terms of "saving" money over a bottle of wheel QD makes no sense to me.

But not everyone is going to like a product that another person likes, and that fine.

I've never used baby wipes on my wheels, but that was brought up a few weeks ago on here, that was why I mentioned it. They're actually pretty cheap especially when you buy them from a wholesale club store. If it was so expensive, most people would find another alternative to wiping their babies' butts. I don't know if you have kids, but you go through a lot of wipes quickly. It literally costs pennies to use, and you don't have to worry about washing or ruining any towels, which is another added cost people aren't considering.

Plus, even if you don't have kids, baby wipes are nice to have in the car or in the house. I can bet that I'm not the only person who uses baby wipes for after-s3x cleanup.

I'm sure most people here would never use their wheel QD on their paint, so what other uses is it good for besides that? The only difference I can think of is that maybe it has slightly better cleaning power, but then again you can just use ONR and vary it's cleaning power by making a stronger solution.

And as far as spending $5 for alcohol, do you not go out every now and then? I would rather put that $5 towards a six or twelve pack and drink at home, but occasionally it's nice to drink and interact socially at a bar, club, restaurant, etc. You're not going to get laid drinking at home alone.
