Meguiars Medium Cut Cleaner?

...Dreaming on an E92....
Anyone else use this stuff? I bought it about a year ago, at first I wasn't to excited about the results but now I really like it. I can cut out scratches in no time and it seems to break down relatively fast, even with my PC. Just thought I'd get everyone else's take on it :)

Never used it, but it is a pretty aggressive product for use with a PC. It rates a 7 on Meg's 0 to 10 scale of abrasiveness.
In fact Meguiar's recommends that it be used with a rotary.
Obviously, it's working for you with a PC, but it might not be for everybody.

It is an aggressive polish, but I think it yields great results if you're trying to remove moderate to severe scratches and severe cobwebs. When I used it with my PC I used as little product as possible, maybe that's why it seemed to work good for me?

Medium cut cleaner is #1, not #2.

#1 - Medium-cut cleaner - Abrasive scale 7
I think this is still for the Rotary only Now for DA as well. 4/3/06, Back to Rotary only per Meg's

#2 - Fine-cut cleaner - Abrasive scale 5
Rotary or DA, new formula only. Read the back of the bottle!

#9 - Swirl Remover 2.0 - Abrasive scale 3
Rotary or DA

#83 - Double Action Cleaner Polish - Abrasive scale 6
Rotary or DA

#80 - Speed Glaze - Abrasive scale 4
Rotary or DA

#82 - Swirl Free Polish - Abrasive scale 3
Rotary or DA

I'm not sure where the products are lined up by abrasiveness but I feel that any polish can be used by hand, PC or rotary. But the finishes will all be different (IMO). The rotary names polishes are listed as so because meguiars uses diminishing abrasives which is when the product breaks down with heat and time. The PC can't generate the same amount of heat as a rotary but when a polish is used long enough it may be able to break effectively. For some reason I have stepped away from the Megs line for a while now. I guess I didn't like the staining of the trim aspect and have now been relying on Poorboys and Optimum's polishes. As I have read somewhere on a detailing site, 'Find something that works for you and use it often!'

Meguiar's #1 Medium-Cut Cleaner has been reformulated and is now recommended for use with a DA or by hand as well as the rotary. 4/3/06, Back to rotary only per Meg's

what pad were you using?:) and did you go over the car with a diff. pad and polish after?

Hey,

Just to chime in to correct some information....

Meguiar's #1 Medium Cut Cleaner currently is for Rotary use only. The DA/Orbital use information on the product in the 2006 Catalog is incorrect; it is a typo. I have had this verified as this question has been asked a fair bit lately.

I hope this helps! :)

Figured I should dig this up instead of starting a new thread about it...

Meg's #1: Why is it recommended only for rotary polishes? I looked at some at O'Reilley's, shook it up, touched a dab with the finger and rubbed. It doesn't feel any more aggressive than, say, SSR2.5. I understand the whole diminishing abrasive concept, but I feel that if I can use SSR2.5 with good results with a PC or Cyclo, then why couldn't I use Meg's #1?

FWIW, I think I have a detail lined up for Sat and am seriously low on SSR2.5 and was considering using the #1 as a substitute polish.

Comments, questions, sarcastic remarks??
