Meguiars maintenance products

Huh, they're not?! I talked to a guy at Detailing Depot and they said Final Detail and #34 were the same products. Oh well, I guess the $13 a gallon deal was too good to be true.

Carcareonline sells OGSO for $22.50/gallon and #34 for $22.05/gallon.

Final Detail and Final Inspection/#34 are DEFINITELY NOT the same thing. Final detail is pink in color vs. white for FI/#34.

Even the containers they come in are different. FI comes in a beige container while the Detailer Line of products comes in a clear plastic container...

Also, I purchased this from Detailing Depot which is about 5 mins from where I live. I guess the salesperson that claimed FI and FD were the same thing, wasn't too sharp that day. The folks at Detailing Depot are usually very helpful and knowledgable. if anyone is in Costa Mesa or in the area, that store offers free clinics by Meguiars regularly. I don't have the schedule, but I guess you can call them and ask when the next clinic/course is held. Free pizza and drinks too! :p

You can buy the larger quanity from an automotive refinish distributor that stocks Meguiars. The one I use is called Finishmasters. Check your local yellowpages.

:xyxthumbs I'll have to remember about those clinics. My mother lives in Costa Mesa, so that sounds like something to do the next time I visit her.

www.carcareonline.com has gallons of #34. I remember it being less than $20, now its $22.05. Darn inflation!

Not that bad, only $2 rise, and shipping is only $5 no matter how much stuff you buy up to $75.00 then shipping is free! A gallon of FI, 3M polishes, Blitz wax, P21S products, it'll easily get to $75.

I thought that it had some Carnauba. At one point it was advertized that even with Carnauba it could be sprayed on rubber.

I doubt the QD (consumer) has waxes in it.

The Quik Wax by Meguiar's, a companion product to the consumer QD does have carnauba wax in it.

Probably someone at some website messed up the product description.

Intermezzo, thanks for correcting me. I'm kinda new in this forum, and I did'nt know that Huy is one of the most meticulous detailers here. :)

Huy, sorry about that...

JasonC8301, Meguiar's Quick wax streak big time. I bought about 4 bottles of that crap thinking it works well. Anyone interested in buying them? :D

I think its an ok product (Quick Wax.) I can apply a coat of Pinnacle Souveran and remove it in the same time though.

Did you let the Quick Wax dry? It says spray on and spread on entire car and let haze for 10 minutes or so and come back and buff. Its to be used on a clean car. I used it twice. First time cleaning a black MB E430, washed and Quik Waxed, done in less than an hour, owner was happy, now the car gets a diet of Souveran, the second time was on the corolla, think i QD'd it and Quik waxed it. Surface was left shiny and streak free. Haven't used it since. Too many QD sprays and most cars I detail personally don't need touch ups, but a light cleaning and sealing.

The first time I used it, I let it haze. When I wiped the product off there were streaks everywhere. Even on a freshly waxed car, it happens to me. :nixweiss

I also tried doing QD first then quick wax, same results...Hmm, the only thing I did'nt try is to remove it using MF...

Well, I called Meguiars again today and spoke to a gentleman named Joe. He stated that neither the consumer QD or #34 had silicone. According to Joe, the main difference between the two products is #34 does a better job of picking up dust and providing shine. It is marketed to professionals. The consumer version is simply that. I hope (fingers crossed) that if someone else calls to confirm, they will get the same information. I have been told this three times now, so it seems to be consistent and reliable info.

Was at BJ's Warehouse Club this morning. They had Meguiar's Quik Detailer 24 ounce spray bottle with a 64 ounce refill bottle for $9.99.

Wow, thats a great price! I still have a 64 oz refil container of Quick Detailer I ve got to use up before I switch to the #34...BTW, Ive also found the Griots Garage Speed Shine to be EXCELLENT. But lets face it, there's really nothing wrong with my QD either...Just cause its in their 'consumer' line doesnt make it bad. NOt too long ago, it was the only misting product we had, and it was good then, and its good now...The fact that we found out today thats its sans silicone makes it even better in my book.

Hey, looks like today is our Meguiars info day..good for us, we got the info....This is the quote I received via email today when asking about the diff between QD and #34:

"The only difference between the two products is that the #34 has an anti-static agent in it that prevents static from occurring."

hey Paul... You've tried Speed Shine and like it? Maybe I need to give it another shot or something, but I've since abandoned it b/c i found it harder to apply that the Meg's QD (consumer line). It requires buffing, more like wax...where as the QD you pretty much mist on and wipe off.... :nixweiss

Griot's Speed Shine to me is more like Meguiar's Quik Wax than Meguiar's Quik Detailer...... it contains more carnauba than other normal QD's.....

just like EF Clear Pearl - which is loaded with carnaubas as well.

Well that makes sense then. Explains why it requires more buffing to achieve the desired shine!
