Meguiars M105 Ultra Cut Compound vs. Menzerna FG400 Fast Gloss Compound

First time reading this and very good article! I like m105, but really enjoyed m101 more. I want to give FG400 a try next.

Really helpful stuff. I just bought HD cut, adapt and polish. But my next compound will be m101 after reading this and hearing that 101 is better than 105.

I'm using a combo of M101 and HD Cut ("combo" as in both products on the same pad at the same time) and it's working pretty well on Audi clear.

jrock645- I was just experimenting; I *really* like the Cut but it's not as aggressive as I'd like, so adding in some M101 helped in that regard. Also, the Cut has a longer work-time and dusts less, so besides wanting to only get as aggressive as I need to be (for timely results) I find it a better approach for what I'm doing (the '93 Audi, thin/fragile clear) than using M101 straight.

Interesting. Just used HD cut for the first time today. Only other compound I'd used was WG uber. HD is so much easier.

I asked because I have a coworker with an absolutely trashed 94 Mercedes that he wants done. Your trick might come in handy.

HD Cut is a great product, but it appears to be very pad-dependent. As I don't have the optimal pads for it, I had to find something that'd work with what I do have. I'm still not completely dialed-in, but it got me through the current job just fine. Even works (relatively) well by hand.
