meguiars m105 and 205 replacing my other polishes?

i been mainly using #82, 83, 84, 85, 66, 2 for the last year and last week my buddie gave me a bottle of 105 205. this stuff is revolutonary. after 105 i usually go straight for 2 and im done and 205 for light scratches.



usually after using something like a diamond cut or power cleaner i have small inperfections but i can usually work the 105 until 80-90% of the scratches are gone



my main question is should i buy a gallon of 105 205 and slowly phase out the 80s? or should i stick with the 80s i still have?



some clarification would be awesome. and hello to all the forum members.

pretty amazing how 105 works and first time i seen a compound produce almost imperfection free results.



still have a gallon and half of the 80s. 105 205 is however very expensive. like 50-60 more..



anything i should keep or just not replace after using?

I still find uses for M80, even in this day and age. But then jasonc didn't include that in his list of what he has.



jasonc- I don't think M105/M205 are perfect (especially M205), but I do think it's reasonable to use them instead of the 80-series stuff you mentioned.



The M66 is a bit different, enough so that I sure wouldn't throw it away or anything.

#82 = Swirl Free Polish

#83 = Dual Action Cleaner/Polish

#84 = Compound Power Cleaner

#85 = Diamond Cut Compound 2.0

#66 = Quick Detailer (Cleaner/Wax)

#2 = Fine-Cut Cleaner

#6 = Cleaner Wax



i been using these polishes for ages and its cheap to replace.

m105 m205 is new to me and i mainly dont need a cleaner wax after 205. but it cost alot. who herd of a $80 polish?



if i were to shove 105 and 205 into my daily collection what polishes should i phase out? thinking of replacing 85 84 for 105 and 83 80 for 205

My first time using 105 was on a weather beaten high mileage mudding silverado that I did for a friend. I've had a hard time finding anything that I have liked as much as it for correction, I followed up with 205 of course, but there were a lot of spots that I used 105 on that I didn't even think needed the 205 really (well since it was a DD and a job I did for free, the correction standards were lower) but used it just for the sake of doing a full 3-step.

For the time #105 saves and how well it removes defects, I don't consider it to be expensive.

You have to price it in ounces IMO. If I use 3 oz. of product per vehicle vs. a pint, then the price changes per car and I can't price based on the gallon.

There are instances where I still prefer m80+ series over m105 + m205 twin. For example if I am looking for more cleaning action with a little abrasive, I prefer the overall experience with the old sch polishes. Has anyone notice m83 cleans incredibly well as compared to m105 despite being less abrasive? However, in terms of efficiency for swirl removal sort of work, I do feel m105 has overtake the m80+ series in almost every aspect.

M105 rocks. Especially with the DA MF pads! Huge difference over foam pads. Finishes out to the point where only a finishing polish is needed for perfect refinement.

That's my feelings too Big Dave! Except I like the UNO v3 a little better than M105, no dust and finishes clearer.
