Meguiars Gold class wax

I used to use this product back in the old days. Shine was very nice, especially on my white car. Slickness very nice too. I used to wax my car like very two weeks.

Durability was an issue, especially when drying with a chamois.

I can testify as it being a cleaner, because I used it for cleaning stains on the car, like tar/bug stains



Hope #16 is better with no trim staining. Lets see if the weather can cooperate this sat.

What I don't understand is that most people that wax there car 2-3x a year(average americans)use GC wouldn't they want to use a product that is easy on and easy off?The easier it goes on the easier the more often you would like to use the product.GC being the #1 selling wax is now easy to take off making people that waxing there car thinking its a chore to do

When I apply a thin coat of Gold Class on pre-cleaned, pre-polished finish, or a finish in good shape to start with, then let it dry for 10 - 15 minutes, it always wipes off easy for me.



Gold Class Wax is not a hard product to work with. Of course it could be a number of varialbes, wipe-off technique, skill level, wipe off material, drying time, too thick of a coating, etc.

I just applied liquid gold class to my A4 today w/ the PC and it wiped off really easy, you guys having problems must be laying it on too thick, a lil product goes a long way. I do the whole hood w/ one ring around the edge of the pad. If you want a thicker coat apply another layer the following day.

GC is noted for sheeting for as long asa it lasts rather than beading. So, although it doesn't last very long, a week may be a bit too short. You may be mistaking the lack of beads for the extreme lack of life.



If you're looking for pretty easy with a longer life, I'd suggest NXT.

Oh no, I got it right, it's not the beading principle I'm after, it's the crap that sticks to the body factor (i.e., pollen spit...scroll up a few posts before ). One day after putting GC, it's much easier to take stuff off, three days, blah...needs a good wash and re-wax.



It is indeed easy to take off, but I've found Zaino to be much easier. No offense to your company Mike, like I said good shine, poor durability factor.

MIKE granted what your saying but the average waxing american's car is not in the condition that you decribe.I won't knock MEGS because I really like the company but this one product GC gets my goat.

For $9 a bottle Gold Class is a GREAT product...get over it. Yes it doesn't last like Zaino, yes it stains trim but for $9 stinking dollars it gives one hell of a shine and I personally find it very easy to work with. :up

Hey WS6, try ColorX. For half the price, you'll be stunned. It's one incredible product. Every time I look at my wife's Malibu I start giggling at how great it looks with CX. I think the Meg's chemists tapped a little bit of magic with this product.

I have tried Color X and like it very much..applies and removes VERY easy, gives a nice gloss and does a fair job at light scratch/swirl removal. Heck for $4.99 I even like A-12 cleaner wax!!

Gold Class is only $9 in the US? Up here it's always more like $20.... even with the exchange that's a big difference!

MIKE as much as I love you and the few points that you made I have to disagree........................................JUST because it's americas top selling wax(the average joe knows nothing about auto wax)doesn't make it a good product.First of all NO DURABILITY SECOND stains trim THIRD A REAL PITA to remove FOURTH just about in every store BIG display of MEGS GC taking up a major portion of the shelves. The difference between #26 and GC is MAJOR.What MEGS should do IS revamp it so its easier to get off and have more durability (MORE THEN 3 weeks) but his is just my opinion..............................................

You need to realize that we at Autopia are in the VAST minority when it comes to car care. The great majority of people do not get this granular when it comes to picking a wax/polish. I think everyone can agree on that.



It may not be the best wax, but its the top seller for a reason--the average car owner is more than satisfied with the results he gets from this product. That's why there's the consumer line and the professional line.

Exactly! You'd be amazed to know that just after washing some of my customer's cars, they think I've already waxed since most do such a poor job washing it themselves or the conveyer type car wash they use is so subpar.



BTW, one of the reasons I get a lot of business is that most people expect waxing to be a lot of work. I wouldn't say Gold Class is a PITA to use but I do have other products that go on and off more easily.

Also, the very name "Meguiar's" has huge following of semi-informed car owners that automatically associate the name with "premium" car care over a "lower-end" brand such as Turtle Wax. Does this make GC a product that totally relies on marketing? No. Does it influence people's perceptions and buying habits? I would think so...

My issue is is that for the MONEY it's a great PRODUCT.
