Meguiars Final Inspection available from a national chain?

I purchased FI online and really like it. Can't find it at Walmart, K-mart, etc ...

Does anyone know of a national retailer that carries FI?

I don't think a national retailer carries #34 FI in terms of the Autozone, Pep boys (have seen #7, #9, #26 in some), Wal-mart, K-mart type stores.

www.meguiars.com and search for a Mirror Glaze dealer in your area, then make some calls. Mostly Body shops and the like have them. Check for gallon sizes too, cheaper around $20.

Pep Boys used to carry Megs FI. However, they had a huge clearance sale on the product when they decided to stop selling it. I picked up like 8 bottles back then.

I believe they still sell the Quick Detailer version in theh maroon bottle.

The Meguiars quick detailer in the red bottle is available from Target. I bought some there a couple of weeks ago.

Is 34/FI really the same product as the consumer line quick detailer in the red bottle?

I havent used the red bottle in a long time but I dont remember it being anywhere near as good. Has anyone ever really looked into this?

Thanks

Quick Detailer and final Inspection are not the same. I believe this has been discussed before...you can use search button. Quick Detailer contains silicones while Final Inspection does not.

Like Pats300ZX said, Pep Boys used to sell FI, but not anymore. These days I pick up FI at a chain called CarQuest, but I don't know how widespread these stores are. I am located in Southern California.

The Pep Boys by me still carries it. However, the performance store at the mall by me carries Clearkote's Quikshine which I greatly prefer....and at $11 a quart, it is cheaper than $6.99 a pint Pep Boys or Autozone sells FI for.

Still, I used FI with great success until I came across QS.

Hi Scott,

It doesn't matter to me which quick detailer a Pro like you chooses to use, but just to clarify...

A-33 Quik Detailer available at Automotive and Mass Market Retailers. Approximate retail price is $5.00 for 16oz This product is NOT paintable.

M-34 Final Inspection availabe at most PBE stores, (Paint, Body & Equipment store, the stores that sell paint to your local body shops). Approximate retail price $6.00 for 16oz, and $22.00 for a gallon. This product IS paintable and is for use in "Body Shop Environments".

D-51 Final Detail available at PBE and Detail Supply outlets. This product IS NOT paintable. Approximate price for 1 gallon is $17.00

D-51 will give you the most gloss and slickness out of these three mist & wipe products.

FYI

Couldn't find that D-51 on the Meguiar's website.

Tom
There's a whole bunch of Meguiar's products that you won't find on their web-site. A well stocked body supply store will have so many Meguiar's products you have never even heard about that you may possibly leave the place totally broke.:p

My Meguiars Distributer (Wash Solutions in Dallas) carries all of them, even Quick Detailer!

BTW, any new products coming out that you can give us a heads up on?

I don't know if you guys have any around you, but NAPA sells it for cheap. I got my #34 Final Inspection for only $4.99. I also bought some #7 Show Car Glaze from them for only $6.99. Pretty good deals if you ask me.

Hi, Mike Phillips

Do you know of a shop in Metairie, LA ... a suburb of New Orleans, LA that would sell FI to a non professional?

No, not off hand, but I'll put you in contact with the Meguiar's Field Rep for your State and I'm sure he can help you.

By the way, you don't have to actually work in the refinishing or detailing industry to use the Professional Line.

The Professional Line gets its name from the fact that Meguiar's automotive line started out in the 1920's with products formulated for use by "Professional", in the sense that they painted or detailed cars.

Meguiar's didn't come out with the Consumer line, (Maroon bottles), until 1973 and that was because of customer demand, caused by word of mouth advertising by Professionals.

I often see people refer to Meguiar's as "Off-the-shelf" products, but the fact is Meguiar's didn't get "Onto" the shelves until customer demand put them their.

Coincidently, the first Meguiar’s product I ever used was the Meguiar’s Cleaner Wax, in 1977. This was After I tried just about every product on the shelf at our local auto parts store. I tell this story in the introduction to my book.

It was the “Turning Point for me the eventually led me to where I am today.

Strange how things work out.

Below is a picture of a very old can of Cleaner/Wax like the one I used from the ‘70’s
