Meguiars DA polishing system

New to the forum here and had 2 quick question. I purchased the Porter Cable 7424xp and a black, orange, and white pad. I polished a section of my wifes Acura tonight starting with Mequiars Medium cut #2 and went to Mequiars Swirl remover 2.0 #9. This is what it stated on the back of the Mequiars polishes as a sequence. The results werent that great, and im wondering if its just bc the car is only 2 years old and didnt have a ton of swirl remarks to begin with. Ive watched some videos on how to use the porter cable. I had the power on 6 to start, made 6 passes, and seemed to be using a good amount of pressure.

On to my 1st question ,would it be easier just to use the Meguiars system? 1 cutting pad, 1 finishing pad??? Ive read good reviews on it but didnt know if it was too good to be true. I still see lots of people using the LC pads as well.

Secondly as for AIO products and using them on new cars..... just wondering if its just as good instead of doing 4-5 steps to go from wash and dry to an all in one that will polish and protect. Like maybe a polish,glaze,sealant? The main thing i want is ease of use. I was thinking Blacklight or Klasse AIO. Any thoughts?

Meguiar's Medium Cut is #1, not #2, are you sure it was #2? If it was #2 then you were using a fine cut cleaner which is a great product but not for removing swirls and other like defects.

It's also possible that your arm speed was too fast and not allowing the product enough time to do its work.

Meguiar's Swirl Remover #9 is another quality product from the Meguiar's line up #9 but this swirl remover is completely non-abrasive and safe for all paints, including clear coats.

It sounds to me as if you weren't using a product geared to removing the defects you stated. Also, these products tend to perform a bit differently on a rotary polisher vs. a dual action polisher..

Meguiar's D151 is a really nice 1-step product that incorporates abrasives. I've used this so many times I can't begin to estimate and it's performance is superb.

When you are saying the results are not great, what specifically do you mean? Are there still swirl marks in the paint after polishing? Are you not happy with the quality of shine when you are complete?

Both LC and Meguiar's make very nice pads. The Meguiar's Softbuff 2.0 pads, IMO, are aimed more at the extreme beginner because they very big (7 inchs) which really taxes the Porter Cable's ability to correct paint with them.
Switch pad brands will not result in a dramatic result in performance. What size LC pads are you currently using?

It's hard to say. Most of the times when you compress steps into a single product you will lose something vs. doing each step separately. I believe this holds true for most things in life. Ultimately it depends on what exactly your car needs to look its best.

If you just need a very light polish, then using an AIO could serve both purposes, but may not last as long as a dedicated sealant/wax (because the product has to perform both functions).

There was still some faint swirl marks, and yes i did expect some more shine. there appears to be something hazy on the surface of my wifes hood. No clue what it is as ive washed, clay bar, used grime reaper, as well as the medium cut polish. Its like a dull spot in the finish in a few places. Very bizarre, her Acura is less than 2 years old and we've taken pretty good care of it.

Im using Hex Logic pads, 6.5 inch (ordered from Chem Guys) Orange, white, and black. with meguiars MC #1 and then mequiars polish #9.

Thanks, i was just looking for a good maintenance product since im pretty busy. plus id be doing a good polish, wax/seal at change of seasons and what not. Just wanting a great in between easy to use AIO, or what not.
