Meguiars #80 vs Poorboys SSR 2.5

Very nice Mike P!! :xyxthumbs

When you have a moment, can you please give a bit of a description of the process you used with #83 and #80?

Buffer, speeds, pads, buffing time, etc... Any tips?

I think it will be a great help for the trend that this thread has taken.

Thanks :)

Sure thing Spilchy, I will be writing the write-up this coming week, it's another, "Each one teach one" article. I've started the article but as usual, time is always short... Interesting thing about this is this was the first time any of the below three gentlemen ever used a dual action polisher. The car is on display at some car show here in SoCal yesterday and today but off-hand I forget where.

Actually, in this case, it's teach three!

Today's project, teach Mike, John and Chris how to remove swirls and other paint defects and create a show car finish! Here's the project, and from this camera shot the finish looks pretty good...

But up close and in person in the right light the finish needs some tlc...

I believ eafter reading all of this I will get SSR 2.5 and #80. 2.5 will go first as my paint needs some attention on a few areas and #80 will be my maintenance polish. I think I will stick to VM for now cause it just seems to give a nice pop and I already own it. Top with some EX-P which on the true blue metalilc looks sick clear, bright the flake just explodes out. Can't reproduce that with S100, Trade Secret or Zaino

I have the exact car and color, a convertible. Like Scott said its decently hard. Swirls can be a little PITA to get out. I find #80 doesn't do a whole lot for moderate swirls on my ford paint. I go with 2.5 and lately I have been playing w/ Menzerna IP. I've never followed 2.5 w/ VM so no help there.

Good color choice, if I say so myself General. What do you like as a LSP on the true blue?

Nice pics, Mike! My brother had a '71 Challenger, really  car!

Those are some nasty spider swirls. I hope you have some after shots on the way!

I agree, I love the color but its like black in the sense it shows everything.

Currently I have Meguiars #16 paste wax as my LSP on it. I have Souveran Paste wax that I plan on keeping it topped with this summer. Mine is not a daily driver so I am always playing around w/ different produts on it. Right now its Zaino topped with #16, which added a nice touch of wetness on top of the Zaino. My avatar shows the front fender, kinda small but it shows the idea.

You gotta try the EX-P when you get a chance it looks awesome and you are right the true blue is as close to black as you can get breathe on it wrong and it scratches. I had two white cars before this so I needed a challenge will definetly get a silver or dark shadow grey ford truck next vehicle I get:). Even though I neglected the car for awhile and it needs a good claying and polishing. Just improving my wash technique and choice of products has kept it looking better than 90% of cars on the road. Yeah I was noticing that fender it looked pretty sweet for the size:up ! Later General Daisy is callin'.........

What part of Maryland you from, lived in Ocean City for 5-6 years? Got family in Springfield or is it Silver something right outside of DC.
