Meguiars #16 wax

They're probably cracking down on the car care industry because they use a lot of chemicals that can eventually leech into the ground and hurt the environment. One small can might not be much, but think of the industry as whole and all of a sudden, the problem doesn't seem that small anymore. I for one am glad they're enforcing VOC compliance. In any case, I'm sure everybody will be able to find something they can replace #16 with and be very happy about it.

Yes, I guess in the long-run the VOC compliance is important if we want to continue to enjoy our passion for detailing in a responsible way. I have stocked up on four cans of #16, but I still have products just as comparable in durability such as Blitz.

Pakshak has a pretty decent supply, but Ranney told me it's a fairly consistent seller, so you may want to consider stockpiling a can or two if you really like it.

/just got my 2 cans - thanks, Ranney!:xyxthumbs

the amount of VOC in a layer of applied wax or polish is practically nothing-now detailing supplies like degreasers and tar removers could be very different and could work their way into water supplies easier

I must have missed the excitement. What's the deal on #16? Is this your guy's favorite meguiars paste wax? Don't they have another comparable paste wax in their arsenal? #26 or something? Forgive me, I don't know much about meguiars paste waxes...

This is a very good wax that Megs makes. Because of the new environmental restrictions in the US, they are no longer selling it here, therefore there is a mad rush to get what you can now.

It is also credited as one of the longest lasting waxes out there. Durability and shine in one wax.

What is the shelf life on #16. If I bought 6 cans will they last 10 years?

DetailGirl,

I also have stocked up on quite a bit of #16. I am certain that they will last for many, many years (almost indefinitely, if you want my honest opinion). My recommendation is to make sure that you keep them in a climate-controlled environment. Somewhere indoors such as a cupboard would be perfect. I have done this with all of my cans of paste wax and have not experienced any problems at all. Some of my paste waxes are at least five to six years old and perform just as well as the day that I bought them.

I missed the excitement too, but I went ahead and bought three cans anyway so I can see for myself what all the hoopla seemed to be about.

I haven't tested the durability of #16, but #26 lasted longer in Gurureports.
