First Question:

Which is better, Meguiars Glaze(the one in the brown bottle)

or 3m's imperial hand glaze..

Second Question: Can SMR be applied with a 10 inch random orbital buffer(20 buck walmart kind)

Third: Any Advice?

i plan to do a full detail on my car tomorrow

1. Wash

2. Sand touchup paint level

3. 3M Rubbing Compound if needed or 3M smr

4. Clay

5. Wash again

6. Glaze/Polish?

7. Zaino or S100.(Thinking of buying collinite after hearing all this hype).

Its on a black 2002 accord v6

heh my detailing shelf is starting to get big. I made some mistakes when i started (Buying Zymol Cleaner wax and turtle wax products) but I think Im getting better. No porter cable yet.. but soon.. maybe this week.. just right now a 20 dollar MVP wal-mart Buffer.

i'm also curious what the opinions are on #7 vs IHG. i was at the store yesterday and decided to get #7 because i've heard more people talk about that one. but i have no first hand experience with them.

smr could be applied with that RO but it probably won't have enough torque to remove swirls.

i'd stay away from sanding your clearcoat unless you really know what you're doing.

The IHG and #7 are comparable. They both are heavy on the oils and fillers. I like the #7 myself. If you’re going to use Zaino you do not want to use either of these products. Zaino won't bond with them on the paint, hence the need for a Dawn wash.

As for the second question, the answer is probably not. RO buffers like the one you described will bog down under the pressure needed to work SMR. They don't generate enough heat either. You can apply it by hand but it is very labor intensive.
