Meguairs Polishing Pad on Black and Decker Orbital Polisher

Hi everyone,

I bought this B&D orbital polisher and is generally happy with it (given the budget I was on). But I found out that I have limited choices of polishing bonnets. I would like to try using the bonnets from Mequiars but then the Meguairs pads require the velcro plate, whereas my 'economical' B&D' has its foam part glued on.

If anyone has seen this polisher or know what I am talking about, is it possible to DIY the Meguairs Pad onto the B&D polisher without having to rip off the glued on foam? Can I buy a velcro plate and somehow tack it on firmly onto the foam part? Or should I just rip the foam off the B&D and glue glue the velcro pad on?

Appreciate any help I can get before I venture into unknown territory and destroy a decent polisher..

Thanks.

Possible?

I highly doubt you are doing any paint correction with that. Maybe waxing, but thats going to be the limits of it.

Best way to fix it is to DIY it to look like this:

For a bit over $100, you can get a very capable machine, which will do real polishing.

Yeah you're right. It's not getting rid of swirls at all. I am waiting for the Meguairs Orbital polisher to come into the shops in July. Will think of investing in one when it comes in...

BTW, any one here willing to ship one of those Meguairs polisher over?:welcome

U mean to mod it to something like this.... :)

Hi, I'm new here. I have the same B&D orbital polisher and I want to modify it in the same way as in the picture above. Please let me know how I can go about it. Do I have to remove the foam and replace it with a velcro plate? Any pointers on where I can get these plates? Any specs that I should be looking out for?

Appreciate your response guys,

Thanks

hello brotha..could you share the mod that you've done.on this b&d? i'm facing the same situation in order to use Meguiar's products

You can go through allot of work and some expense modifying the B&D polisher and it won't have the power to really correct the paint. Perhaps the Harbor Frieght polisher would fit into your budget--It is $60, but with their 20% off coupon you can get it for $48 and they have pads available for $4 each.

6" Variable Speed Dual Action Polisher It's a true RO Polisher with the ability to change pads and has the power to truely correct your paint.
