Megs Insane Tire Spray

Yesterday I had the chance to try out the new Meg's Insane Tire Spray while giving my 4Runner a quick winter detail. I have always like a nice glossy look on tires so I decided to give this a try.

Well...I like glossy but not this glossy !!! :shocked It actually made the tires on my 4Runner shiny. It some instances I could see the garage lighting reflecting off the tires lol.

It also seemed to go on very thick even though it was a spray.

I wiped the tire after letting it sit for about 20 mins which did help reduce the gloss. Thankfully there was no slinging.

I think I will be sticking with Eagle One Wet or Meguiars Hot Shine as my go to tire dressing.

On a side note..I applied NXT x2 with a PC. I know NXT is not the most popular sealant out there because of its durabiltly issues. However it sure does look great on metallics and is so easy to use.

Wow, shiny tyres maybe that is what some people would want. Do you think the shine or gloss would reduce over the first few days?

Thanks for the review! I'm not a fan of real glossy products on tires, so this is another product I can put in the "do not try" column!

If you like the NXT on metallics, you might want to give Mothers' new FX Synwax a try. Very similar to NXT, but IMHO, a slight edge goes to the FX for looks. However, the FX does seem to have slightly more polishing action than NXT, so "layering" is probably not feasible. They do make an FX spray wax for topping the LSP......... not sure on that one.

Well, it is called "Insane Tire Spray", so I suspect it's intentional that it's so glossy. If it didn't sling and was super glossy, it sounds like it did exactly what it is supposed to do.

I also find reflective tires to be pretty gross, but not everyone does. I'm not sure it makes this product a thumbs-downer... ;)

You wouldnt happen to have any good pics of it full strength on your tires and then a couple of shots with it buffed down would ya?

I like glossy tires, but I decided to pass on this one after reading the can at WalMart the other day. It has acetone and something else (sorry, forgot), says it's not safe for paint, and to wipe it off the tire to prevent sling and staining. If I am going to use a product that has to be carefully applied and buffed, I'll use a swipe rather than an aerosol. I love the tire foams (my favorite is ArmorAll Detailer's Choice), tire doesn't have to be perfectly dry, safe for paint, etc.; I'll stick to that for aerosol.

I didn't have my cam with me yesterday when I detailed. I can try and shoot a pic for ya today with it buffed down. It actually looks better now. After wiping it its sorta similar in looks to Megs Hot Shine.

I used Megs Hot Shine for the first time last weekend and checked back today on the car and it still had a nice sheen, so I was impressed with Hot Shine. But perhaps, for people who like a real glossy look I can spray that and not buff, but buff for those who dont. So all in all it may be a decent product to use.

These are also my products of choice along with Z16. :D

Thanks Pat. I was thinking of trying the new Meg but will hold off since our taste seem to be quite similiar. :xyxthumbs

Ya..I really like the Hot Shine and EO better. Funny thing was that I paid like $6.29 a can for this at Advance Auto. You can get the EO or the Hot Shine for under $5.00 at Wally World.

I also used the NXT Glass Cleaner this weekend. Best glass cleaner I have ever used.

:xyxthumbs

I applied the insane tire shine waited over night and then wiped the tires down with a towel.. I still had sling EVERYWHERE.

It has been moved to the "back shelf" for now.

I've seen it at Advance Auto. I was really dissapointed with the NXT Tire Cleaner. I think Insane shine is a good product seems to apray on easily and cover well and you can get alot of tires out of 1 bottle.

I don't know if all states has checkers auto parts but they have insane shine on sale for 3.99 a can. If someone wants to try it, now is the good time. For me, I kind of like it on my tires. I have a low profile tires andi think low profile tires look better with dark shiny tires. It is really glossy and wet looking, never used anything like it. I don't know about slinging because haven't drove the car yet but it sure looks good for people who want shiny tires. I sprayed it directly on my tires because when i used the tire swipes it didn't really produce that glossy look (maybe i need to spray more on the swipes).

I've used it on my Bimmer's tires (Megs Insane Tire Spray) and it didn't last for more than 2-3 days.

Longevity is not its strong suit.

I've been using the Insane TS for the past two weeks. I just spray it on then wipe down with a EO tire wipe. No sling and it lasts well for me (no rain yet). The Hot Shine on my wife's car has much more shine, kind of gross if you don't wipe it off some. Both seem to hold up real well.

I tried it out on a couple of my customer's vehicles who like really shiny tires and they were pretty happy. I wouldn't use it on a windy day because it is an aerosol but the sprayer is actually pretty accurate. For its intended market, it will do the job though.

On my own car, I prefer either Armor All or Meguiars #40.
