Meg's APC questions

I notice people mentioning the use of Megs APC or APC+ all the time, and I had a few questions.

First of all, where do ya'll get it? I must have missed it on the various online stores but i cant really find it. (probably feel like an idiot with the answer to this one)

How much do you guys buy? It seems like everyone is mixing it 10:1 or 3:1 for various things, but how much do you make of that solution and how do you measure? I have heard 3:1 for wheels, but how much solution do you need to do wheels/tires of a car? It is sold in gallons, and I would think you need at least a gallon of solution to do the wheels and tires, so there you use 1/3 of your gallon jug of APC right there.

I got my Meg's Detailer APC at http://www.autogeek.net

I mix mine at various ratios, the most recent one being 3:1 for cleaning tires. I fill a 32oz spray bottle with APC/water, and use that only for tires. I have another bottle with water/APC 10:1 that stays with that dilution until it's used up. That dilution is what I use for tar removal and general cleaning uses.

I measure it by just filling the bottle to approximately 1/4 full (for a 3:1 ratio), and then fill it with water. Simple as that.

I definitely don't use a gallon of solution to clean 4 tires. I probably use 1-2 ounces per vehicle. I spray the APC/water directly on the tire, and then use my tire brush to scrub the tires. I bought my gallon in March I believe, and I still have AT LEAST 3/4 of it left.

hmm...i don't usually clean wheels with APC but i have a couple of times when i ran out of my wheel cleaner. it was with a 3:1 dilution. i used a 12oz spray bottle and used 3oz of APC and the rest distilled water. i don't think i even came close to using 1/2 the bottle and i sprayed a lot. i think your math is wrong too...3:1 means 3 parts water 1 part APC. it doesn't mean 2/3 water 1/3 APC. and you don't need a gallon of solution for wheels. 1 gallon of APC should last you a long time.

APC is an absolutely GREAT product. Can be used for practically anything, including just around the house. I keep two spray bottles in my bag at all times, one at 4:1 and one at 10:1. I have yet to find a stain or problem that 4:1 can't conquer. I use the 10:1 to wipe down everything on the interior. At $13-$15 a gallon this is a great bargain of a product. I bought the professional spray bottles from Meguiar's. They are 32 ounces, are labeled "All Purpose Cleaner", and have lines to help with the dilutions on the side of the bottle.

my bad, little off with the math i was thinking 1 gallon so that would use 1/4 of your gallon of APC if you mixed 3/4 gallons water w/ 1/4 gallon APC.

I got it now, using the spray bottles. For whatever reason i was thinking everyone was mixing a bucket and using that, but you are just mixing a bottle and spraying. When doing it this way, do you have a bucket w/ clean water on hand to rinse the wheel/tire bushes ?

If I'm cleaning tires, then I have the hose nearby to spray down the tires after I'm done.

Truzoom - APC is much more verstatile than Simple Green or Castrol Super Clean. When I hear those, I think of engine degreasing and stuff like that. APC can be used for just about anything.
