Megs #80

I tried (again) #80 with a blue propel pad in the shade, I started with just half of the hood, it was a B***H to get off, I finally stopped and finished with AIO.:nixweiss
 
you can always use a 50water/50 alcohol mix to get it off-the Mothers PowerPolish removes really easily so you could try that
 
ptim- Assuming the surface was cool (being in the shade and all), I'm surprised you still had trouble with the #80. If you're working it (only) until it turns clear/pink, it oughta wipe off pretty easily. I wonder if you're using too much product :nixweiss

Hmm? I've been using #80 for some time now and never had a problem with it. It leaves the finish nice and shiney and ready to go to the next step whether it be VM or UPP. :nixweiss
 
I just used Megs #80 today. The weather was raining so I decided to work on my show 300ZX in the garage. I went over the whole car with a PC and a Megs 8006 pad.



Followed up with VM and a LC polishing pad. I am pretty impresssed with the results. It didn't tackle all of the swirls but it cleaned up about 80% of them.



I plan on topping with Pinnacle Souveran :cool:
 
Used 80 today on a car. Some spots where i accidentally let it dry too much were a bit tough, but a quick shot of QD softened it up and was then easy to wipe.

I used #80 for the first time yesterday on my Buick, followed it with VM and topped it with Souveran...funny how! Then to top that off we were at the same car show Friday night....wierd. The souveran looks killer too by the way.



Anyways, I WAS NOT impressed with the #80, I used a white LC pad with my PC, it did a "decent" job on the swirls, but not great.





Above all it was a major PITA to remove !!



That is my biggest complaint. I tried using some QD with little results. Under the 500W halogen you could see a haze and lines from the PC. No matter what I did I could not remove these by hand. I figured I'd do my best and hope the VM wiped em out (which it did, thank god for VM!)



ptim: I know exactly what you mean, this stuff was a real you know what to remove. I'm thinking of selling it and going back to my 3M machine glaze which has never let me down. the #80 definately did not live up to its hype for me.

I just did #80 and Souveran last night.....looks freakin' WET!!!!!
 
Does #80 leave white residue on black trim ?

Thinking of getting some but just wondering if I'll have to use masking tape or not .

It will be #80 - NXT - #16 on my not too bad Obsidian Black Mercedes C200 Sport :)
 
I've used #80 a few times now and love the way it works - so much nicer than #83. I used it in the sun yesterday and didn't have any major problems either. Sure the pad started to gum up a bit due to the heat, but nothing that stopped me working.



In my experience if #80 is hard to remove it's because you've either used way too much or haven't worked it through enough. I find it's ready to remove when it's getting hard to see it.

My car is ok, as it has no exterior textured black trim, but I used #80 on my Dad's car last weekend and it left a fair bit of polish residue on the door and bumper trim (just got a stash of Sonus, PC 4" spot pads to try to make polishing in tight areas a little easier)



I removed it with great success with a little well diluted Meg's APC+ and a small detailing brush, wiped dry and then dressed these areas with AG Vinyl Care. Looked great.



#80 is one of the better products I have used without any disapointment afterwards, as long as you realise it's capabilities.

That would be my guess. #80 doesn't work well in the direct sun on hot paint (nor was it designed to) but when used as directed, it is a very easy polish to use.



Your last couple of passes should be on at least 5 or 6 and moving only an inch or two per second and you will see it clear out. Wipes off with ease once it clears.
