Meg NXT - will it remove previous layers

Hi,

I have applied 6 layers of Meg No7 Show Car Glaze and topped it up with S100. Fantastic results.

However, I would like to experiment with Meg NXT now.

Will NXT remove the No7 Glaze and S100??

If I proceed to use NXT, can anyone recommend a suitable topper? S100 perhaps?

NXT will most likely remove some product as it does contain minor cleaners, I don't know about all 7 coats though. S100 may work well over NXT try and see!

S100 over NXT is a marginal improvement at best IMO. And yes, the NXT will remove some of the base products you have existing there..

No one else has mentioned this so I will, why 7 layers of #7? It is a great product but, any more than 2 layers is pretty much a waste of time. It is not possible to build up a thick layer of #7. #7 does not dry like a wax. The best way to describe it is that it skins like pudding left in the fridge. The act of applying another layer of #7 will re-liquify any previous layers and they will flow together and excess wiped off. The only benefit to layering #7 is to ensure complete coverage, not to build a thick layer.

As to NXT removing your S100 and #7. Sure it will probably remove a bit of the S100 but, most likely a very small amount as the cleaners in it are very very light.

I find that doing multiple applications of No 7 actually helped make minor micro-scratches less visible. It added a very nice lustre and shimmer to the paint . When topped with a good Carnauba such S100, there is added depth and lustre. This technique works fine in my 2-pack Ferarri Red.

Ohh I am not putting down #7, I am a loooonnnngggg time user of it. What I am saying is that #7 just doesn't layer like that. It is doubtful you added any more product that didn't just get immediately removed after say layer 2 or 3.

Here is my '01 Mustang GT with #7 topped with #26

If you wanted the NXT to remove the previous layers, I would say "No, NXT will not do that." But if you didn't want the previous layers messed with, I'd say "NXT will remove a little."

NXT isn't a cleaner wax per se, but just due to the formula it has a little cleaning ability.

rjstaaf, awesome pics!! :xyxthumbs :xyxthumbs

#7 + #26 is an awesome combo!

myall00, I'm sure NXT will work fine over #7. Topping it with S100 is up to you.
