during the course of a detail sunday i used this product and had to share...
the problem:
clients sons team went to the peewee football (or something similar) state championship (In early July!) and so they wrote with pink, or probably once red and white shoe polish on the windows
so this had been on the car baking for over four months and it had rained on it just days after being applied
it wasnt really of concern to him
just for context, it took the red nanoskin meduim clay sponge (several passes with pressure) to remove this stuff from the paint as my normal fine clay was taking way too long and not working on all of the areas. i was worried about the rubber the most
`
the hatch glass was lovely as well
i didn`t take a lot of pics after but i found this a great chance to finally use this wax remover product
sprayed the rubber and per directions i waited 30 seconds or a little more
i then agitated with a mothers detailing brush as it was almost the perfect size and I was afraid of scratching the rubber
then i wiped with a micro towel I had sprayed a little of this product on
final wipe with a dry micro
ended up topping with optiseal in a rush as i almost ran out of time
thats my test spot if you will
seemed to be working pretty well
not all areas came out 100%
it took two passes in most areas and if i had more time a third try would have probably removed almost all of the rest
i needed more time to carefully get into some areas and really scrub it
either way it was a huge improvement
thoughts:
goes without saying but do wear gloves as this stuff smells like rubbing alcohol
also be careful of brush choice when using this on rubber trim. i wasn`t comfortable using a stiffer bristled brush personally
if i had a do over i would have done this step before the wash but i did it in the garage after the wash and interior were completed. this was due to time constraints and the owner wasn`t initially even wanting me to remove it, he said he didn`t care about it. i may have implied that the pink trim wasn`t leaving my garage regardless but i wasnt doing it for free
and finally, is this product worth buying?
YES. this kind of issue in general is exactly the reason i purchased this product and sat it on a shelf until needed
i am not very sure what i would have used previously but i know for sure it wouldn`t have been this easy
thanks for viewing
