Matte Finish for Tires that Last

Can anyone recommend any tire dressing that last longer than a week at most that gives the tires a satin sheen to it.

I currently use One Grand ERV as I like the shine it gives to the tires. This stuff just doesn't last though....Detailed the car on Sunday and be Wed, the stuff is gone.

Turtle wax tire gel, or Zaino Z16. TW is glossy, but you can control that by buffing instead of letting it dry. Both wear off slowly, and what remains is a satin black tire, not a dull faded brown one like when you use other products.....

Thats quite the list! I wish I took my real job as seriously as detailing! Boy, I would be rich! Oh well.........

Anyhoot, my top 10 list that I simply can't detail without would have to be (in no particular order).......

1. American Shine Carnauba Wash

2. 4-5 MF towels

3. Lanes Super Blue Tire Gloss

4. Mist-n-Shine OR Race Glaze Gloss Highlighter (same product!)

5. Wizards Shine Master

6. Blitz Wax OR American Shine Liquid Wax

7. 1.5 hp wet dry vac

8. bunch 'o' sponges!

9. 303

10. Eagle One A-Z Wheel Cleaner (or equivalant!)

Thats enought stuff for a relatively descent job...but sometime, somewhere ya gotta work Klasse and whatelse in there!

From a previous post this user likes Lane's Super Blue Tire Gloss. Might try PM'ing him. It is in his top 10 must haves.

Stoner's Trim Shine.

I tried this stuff for the first time and it lasted over a week (around 200 miles) on my truck and they still were nice and black with hardly any dust attraction.

It quickly dried on the tire and gave a matte finish with no buffing at all. This stuff is also cheap. Pepboys has aerosol cans for $3.99 or you can order a 5 gallon jug with shipping for $50.

Clearkote's Tire Treatment is pretty good, looks real glossy at first, but within a few minutes has a natural sheen. I dress my own tires only once every 3-4 weeks and they still look good at that point. It is a bit pricey though, compared to other tire dressings.

Armor All is pretty decent for the price. Lasts a couple of weeks for me.

I really like the looks of Poorboy's Natural Look. Have just received the PB Bold-n-Bright product and am anxious to see the results and save the Natural Look for the interior.

Dunno if this is supposed to get out, but PRO car care has a new product coming out next week -- Blue Ice is the name, IIRC. Supposedly an amazing tire/trim dressing. It comes in a 1lb tub...

Perhaps it was because the tires I was using it on were not in the best shape, but I had poor luck with the CK Tire Treatment. I ended up with an uneven, spotty shine on the tires, even after a second application with a tire swipe. Relegated to wheel wells for me . . . :nixweiss

BLack MAgic Semi GLoss dashboard protectant................YEAH...the STuff YOSTEVE loves for his interior................works great on tires tooo.....

I think if you want anything to last...clean the tires real good...otherwise the stuff is not really adhereing to the tire that well.....I have used several cleaners and it must take me 20 mins per tire to get them clean...........I now use EFHI and it still takes time about 3-5 SPRAY/SCRUB/RINSE sessions.......

Now the tire is clean spray stuff on let it set for 10 mins.............spray some more..........let set for 15 mins............spray some more.let sit for 20 mins..........

Buff tire.....and inspect.....spray where needed and let sit for 5 mins and then buff...............Ya GOtta buffffffffffffff

I love that stuff, but all i ever see is that little bottle(maybe 8oz.). Are you aware of any larger, more economical size?

I also used Poorboy's Bold 'N' Bright several weeks ago when it came in and my tires are still black even with the almost daily storms we've been having here. It also is good for wheelwells as it cleans too....very good product and excellent service.

TW tire gels are also good.

Take care everyone...........V

I only do my tires once a month here, and it rains at least 4 days a week. I use the regular Endurance, and if I leave it overnight without driving, it sets really well and doesn't wash off.

I gave up on tyre dressings a while ago. I now just clean the rubber and dry, nothing more. The tyres look great (IMO).

I can attest to the :up for Meguiars Endurance. It stays on even after the rain. I need to try Poorboy Bold 'N' Bright and the one from Lane (blue tire).

Hi chefwong,

I use OG products. Want to try something?

Mix a little vegetable glycerin from the health food store into

your ERV. Put about a 2-3 shot glass amount into a bottle of ERV.

First try it out with a small amount so you don't waste product if you are not happy with the results. Maybe 1 shot glass amount of glycerin to 3 or 4 oz of ERV.

Let me know if this extends your application intervals?

Also, let me know how you like the unique gloss it puts out?

PS - ERV is supposed to be layered. When you get about 4 layers

on the tires you will notice that the shine stays. You just need to top off once a week for maintenance.

If you want a Matte finish........

DO NOT USE Meguiars Endurance.

I bought the "low gloss" NOT HIGH Gloss, and they are to damn shiney for me. I only applied ONE coat . Let it sit for 10 minutes then "Tried" to buff the shine down..... nope stayed shiny.

I Precleaned with Mother's tire cleaner and they looked really nice before I put this stuff on. I cant imagine anybody wanting to put two coats of this on, leave alone buying the Glossy stuff........:down :down :down

((((UPDATE))))))

After driving about 20 miles, then looking at them, the shine has calmed down ALOT! It is pretty much the look I like.

:up :up :up :up
