thanks for the info guys, i went out and bought the megs quick interior detailer, i tried it, it does leave a bit of an oily shine, but i dont know if im using it the right way? how do u guys use the quick interior detailer?

I noticed a bit of oiliness in the new ('09) version of QID that wasn't present in the previous version. If QID is oily to you, trust me, you need Cockpit Premium.

x2. Cockpit premium is 100% matte.

+1 for Finish Kare Top Kote #108. My black interior came with a grease slick on it. FK 108 left it with a nice matte finish. Repells dust well too.

For cleaning and protecting I really like Megs #40. You can create just the amount of shine or matte you wish by wiping any excess down further. Excellent cleaner/protectant for vinyl and rubber.

Curious, just how much UV protection can ya get from any interior dressing?

Not being a chemist, I can't say for sure, but I don't doubt that it is significant. If you can get things like SPF 30, 50, 80 for skin I suspect that there are even better protectants available for vinyl. Of course, glass is a pretty good UV filter in itself. Yet some still report things like fading and dash cracking, so I'd expect its not a bad idea to use the protection. Call it cheap insurance. Another plus is that most of the dressings make the vinyl look better.

Never, ever, seen a test. I wish someone would do one. I've tried to imagine the best way to do one.

ill be ordering the cockpit premium tonight, how do you guys apply it? and also what can i use to remove the previous protection from my vinyl? damp towel?

I also use 303, It's nice and long lasting, it makes the hard plastics on the center console a darker satiny black, and it completely restored my sticky leather wheel to like new, or better than new condition. But it does leave faint hazy fingerprints on the glove compartment for some reason. Someone suggested that I didn't wipe it off enough.
