matte finish for my interior

what product can give me a 100% matte finish for my black interior? i've used alot of products like lexnol, zymol, but they still give that oily shine. :nixweiss, my interior gets chalky quick, as if you would rub your finger on the door panels (vinyl) it creates a white chalky streak, any way to stop this?

thanks

I'm a fan of Optimum Protectant Plus. My interior is off black and OPP leaves a nice matte finish. (I too don't like the shiny look.)

I was just about to say Meguiar's Quik Interior Detailer, but then I saw that Dope92 already beat me to it :chuckle:.

Five dollars, ultra fine misting spray works well when sprayed into a foam applicator pad, and it dries without a shine in my vinyl/plastic newer Civic interior. And you can find it at any store in the universe, including Target and Wally World.

Quik interior detailer (meguiars) doesn't leave any shine.

Also does not leave any protection to speak of. It's really designed to be a dusting/light cleaning agent, not a protectant.

Most water based interior dressings will do the trick if you give a final wipe down with a damp microfiber after the protectant has a chance to dry.

has anyone tried the stuff from duragloss?

i too am a fan of the matte look. would also like to know whether that specifically has a matte look too.

Is Megs straight lying to me then? :(

"Our unique formula now features sunblocking and sunscreening agents for improved UV protection"

...(in addition to having mild cleaning properties for use when taking care of light dust/marks etc).

Love OPP too. Satin finish and ample UV protection. I do use Meguiars Interior QD for weekly maintenance.

I use 1Z Cockpit Premium and follow up with 303 periodically. Meguiar's Quik Interior Detailer works well too.

A permanent solution is to apply a matte soft urethane "Topcoat".

Thereafter only remove shines from body oils with leather-safe pH 3.8 cleaner and a pH 3.0 rinse to neutralize alkalinity from perspiration.

You can further keep the car interior healthy with a pH 3.9 odorless sanitizer to retard bacteria activities.

Test it out with a cotton swab first if its to your liking, otherwise a duller can be further added to the matte to make it dull.

Prior to this re-topcoating, the leather has to be stripped back to its original topcoating with a pH 7.7 leather prep cleaner, a pH 3.8 cleaner and a pH 3.0 rinse to its original chemistry integrity with a healthy squeaky clean.

As to the streaks, it is always associated with alkaline exposure, so check the pH value of cleaner used.

The streaks can be rectified with neutralizing with a low pH 2.0 acidifier if its due to alkaline cleaners.

Do you think, this approach is sensible?

+1 for 1Z Cockpit Premium. It truly leaves a matte finish. It may not provide much UV protection, but do the modern vinyls really need much UV protection? Perhaps it all depends on where one lives. Anyway, I've decided to roll the dice with 1Z. I'll let you know in ten years whether I made a mistake or not.

thanks for the info guys, i went out and bought the megs quick interior detailer, i tried it, it does leave a bit of an oily shine, but i dont know if im using it the right way? how do u guys use the quick interior detailer?

I spray 1-2 mists into a yellow foam applicator pad, and massage the QID into the plastic or vinyl panel. Everything turns out dry and uniformly awesome matte-ness and clean. (Of course, if I had existing greasy chemicals on my plastic, or simply a dirty interior that needed cleaning beforehand, I would do a MF wipedown w/ 10:1 APC followed by wipedown with a mildly damp MF before even using the QID)

I also want to try Einzsszdszsz Cockpit Z1 Premium Cleaner, but a big reason that I don't try certain things is because I limit my detailing supplies to just a handful of online retailers, and yeah. I don't want to order Einsz because I'd have to order it from a new place, and I don't like ordering things from so many different places online. :grinno:
