I'd like to know if it can be successfully converted to any sort of direct drive polishing/buffing/rotary/[goes and buy a thesaurus]/whatever.

11000rpm is just waaaaaaay to fast... for paint...

LOL! :)



Look at "real" polishers and try to find something to match their speed. I think they usually run up to about 3000 rpm max.
