Makita BO 6040 Combined Random/Rotary?

JimS

Adopt a shelter pet!
I've done some searching and read a favorable review or two from about a year ago.

It's a Makita polisher that switches from random orbital polisher to "forced" mode which has the action of a rotary polisher. According to the review I read from Autopia and posted last year, it works quite well.

I'm wondering if anyone else has any comments as it sounds pretty good to me.

Hi Christiaan and thanks for your reply.

I had read your reviews prior to posting this thread and you are the one who has tempted me to get this machine in the first place....it's all YOUR fault!! ;)

Now that you've had this machine for over a year how do you like it? Have you used it often and has it help up?

I just need a little more coaxing :D

I like the machine a lot:xyxthumbs

not only as a ROB , but as a sander allso.

Yes , I still don't regret bying it , it's worth every penny.

I really wonder how this Makita would match up against the Cyclo, I am on the edge of buying a Cyclo, I hear nothing but great things about it.

People tell me it'll cut down my polishing time with the PC.

Much as I *LOVE* my Cyclos (enough to own two of them, and I'm not a pro), they're not a substitute for a rotary. Still quite different from the PC, though. IMO, both have their places, as does a rotary, or that Makita that works both ways.

The Makita 6040 is not a rotary in any way but rather it spins like a rotary. It is a PC, which vibrates, and a Cyclo, which spins in an orbit fashion. So none of these will do what a true rotary can do.
