Makita 9227

Just got mine today and I have one question. Is there a spindle lock so I can change the backing plate? I lost my cyclo flat wrench and now I've got nothing to change it with.

Thanks,

Shaun

On my 9227 There is a black button on the opposite side of the spindle which locks the spindle to change the backing plate.

I hope that helps.

Shaun Carollo- For the Cyclo, you can just grind down (the thickness of the head of) a regular 5/8" open-end wrench so it's a bit thinner than normal. Some will even fit without the grinding. I have a cheapie generic that fits just fine.

Makita is really bad about not putting a wrench in so many of these polishers--particularly the ones being sold on eBay. I had the same problem. If you have an old 5/8" bicycle wrench, they are very thin and do the trick for switching backplates. Attached is a photo--hardly a thing of beauty, but it works.
