Making own MF detergent ?

I hate paying so much money for washing my MF towels. I feel that the money i spend buying these Micro-restore, Rejuvenator etc.. won't save me enough money becasue I can buy new Microfibers with the exorbident prices they charge. These "Special Detergents" How do they know the diffrence between regular cotton & microfiber? :surrender

What are you using to clean your MF ?
 
I use woolite to wash, and vinegar in the rinse cycle.
But I will admit that when I washed them with rejuvinator there was a difference, I haven't decided if the difference is enough to justify the higher cost of rejuvinator vs the woolite.

Whatever liquid laundry detergent my wife is using.
I have heard that "Charlies Soap" does a good job. I don't know how much it costs or where you buy it, but I bet if you did a search for Charlies Soap you could find out more.

I wash all my cotton towles with the same thing i wash my clothes with, ALL, and dry them on low heat.

IMO its a waste to buy Special Detergents to wash your detailing rags in. Rags are cheap. When they are worn out throw'em away and buy new ones.
 
I heard CHarlie soap is good but not as good as the regular Micro-restore. I admitt the Pinnacle Micro-Rejuvenator is awesome But dame the cost is to much. Your better of buying new MF's everytime. I searched everywhere & cant find a gallon for under 30$ :emlaugh:
 
I like the Sonus MF wash a lot and I just ordered some of the Pinnacle. What I'm thinking is to stretch out the MF detergent I'll just wash the MFs with it every other time I use them. I don't think it's terribly important that I use the MF detergent every time.

My two WW drying MFs were $30 each. I don't know what a rag even is anymore. :no:
 
another thing thats funny is the mostly automitive detail sites have it. I searched laundry companies for a cheaper price and they dont have it. :hang:
 
I too thought that Pinnacle Micro Restore was to expensive. it does do a nice job on the MF towels that I have. The difference is slight but there is a difference when comparing it to a liquid laundry detergent. Not enough to justify the cost.

I went ahead and purchased Charlies Soap from a vendor at a lower pice than Micro Retore. Have not used it as yet. Wish I would have done my research a little better. That sure is a good price on Charlie's Soap. I paid more than that..... until this thread I though it was a good deal. :huh: :whistling

I simply soak mine in a sink full of hot water, Dawn Dishwashing Liquid and Oxyclean for about an hour. Then I hand wash them in the same mix, by squeezing them. Finally rinse and throw them in the dryer, no dryer sheet.

The Dawn breaks down the old wax, sealant, QD, dirt, oil, etc. The Oxyclean whitens and removes staining.
 
With MF washing, I find that White Distilled Vinegar is your best friend :).


Hot cycle with normal amount of regular laundry detergent, then 1 tablespoon of vinegar per towel (I usually do a rough round off) and finally, squirt Dawn in there for 3-5 seconds.

When done, I will let the cycle run again, alone, no soaps or anything to release any perfumes, dyes, odors left.

Dry on delicate, low heat.


I have used 3 different MF washes...All good, but I don't think they supercede this by anything. Plus, a gallon of vinegar is under 2 dollars.

at 1st i thought the charlie soap was a joke. I thought charles had his own concoction until i seen the link from chee. how much of mf rejuvenator do you use. i see its sold by the QT. i would think that would last a little while?

THEY DON'T. 30+ years in the textile business got me curious about the claims of these detergents and found that they are mainly degreasing agents. Don't waste your money, use a good liquid detergent with no dyes or perfumes and hot water and you will be fine. This isn't rocket science.

This process cancels itself out and is very wasteful. What is the purpose of the Dawn AFTER you wash? You shouldn't use Dawn imn your washing machine, it makes too much suds. Just use white vinegar in the final rinse only in order to help the fabric fibers release any excess detergent, adding detergent at this time makes no sense.
 
If I have some bad spots I will give a squirt of APC. Then in the washer Tide Free ( or similar) and oxyclean and white vinegar in the rinse cycle cup. I always let the tub fill and agitate for about 30 seconds before putting towels in. When finished if the vinegar smell is strong I will run rinse cycle again.
As a rule I wash DF seperately from MF...not sure if this is necessary?

Dawn, highly basic. Vinegar, highly acidic.


I haven't really had any adverse affects. I was just trying to cover all the bases with removal of products from the fibers.

I forgot to add that I allow it to agitate initially for ~2 minutes, then let it sit (off) for 1+ hours.

mixing these products i think would be much cheaper than buying the expensive stuff. I might get 5 Gallons out of it. :fear: ( i might be creating a BOMB ) :wink:

About the bomb thing you might be right or then again you might kill every in the house from the fumes.

i spray the mf's with an apc and then wash with a couple scoops of oxy clean. i think itwould it help every few washe's to use a mf rejuvenator.
