Make It Shine: Black SRT4

Hey everyone. Catching up with some posting here. Did this car a couple of days ago and had some time to go through a few pictures for upload. It has a Mopar Stage 3 kit to run around 22psi with the flip of a couple of switches. The car is currently up for sale too. Just did a quick job on it.

Process:

- Citrus Wash & Gloss

- Kleenol to rims, tires, wheel wells. Agitated with tire brush, Ez-Detail brush, and small stiff-bristled brush for wheel wells

- Riccardo Clay + ONR lube. Paint was heavily contaminated!

- Poli-Seal on PC with Sonus Blue pads.

- Collinite 476S

- Tires dressed with Opti-Bond

On to the pictures!

Thanks for looking!

Brother of my car! hehe

Very nice job!

Wow ... It looks like in very bad shape, damn!

You did very well!

Great job, the black looks very deep, and should for a while with the 476s on it.

One thing though, does the LF tire dressing look blotchy to you? What did you use to apply the opti-bond?

Looks amazing for only using Poli-Seal!

I'm guess there weren't many swirls and scratches to begin with?

Bah, a Neon. For some reason I was hoping it'd be the Caliber SRT4.

Nice turnaround, that Opti-bond stuff looks sweet.

That car looks nice...it is always good to see another SRT-4 on here! Did you measure the paint thickness on this car? If so, I am curious about what you found, especially across the hood and fenders.

Thanks a lot! The car needs some heavy compounding, that's for sure!

Thanks! Yes you are right, the dressing does look blotchy. I actually applied Opti-Bond twice to the tires because of this.

Poli-Seal is very underrated! There were tons of swirls, but the owner didn't really care to spend the money on a full correction when the car is for sale anyway. Totally understandable.

Haha! Sorry for disappointing you. Thanks for the comments!

Thanks! I did not measure the paint thickness as it was just a clean up. I know for a fact that a few places have been repainted but nothing serious. Whoever repainted the parts did an excellent job though.

I guess that the paint can be ridiculously thin across the front, and very smooth! These cars are tougher to make look good then you would think...nice job!

lol at your comment

But i do like the Caliber also. Very very good motor in those SRT-4. 400-450whp easily and safely without internals upgrade.

Kaval, how do you like Kleenol ?

Any dilution to fit your needs ? I would like some information about it, cause i bought the "BOGO" deal before christmas from Eshine. I'm just not 100% sure how to use it, on what to use it, and dilution depending of my utility.

Any idea ?

Thank you

I have really enjoyed Kleenol and have nothing bad to say about it. When I purchased it, I had Grime Reaper with me too. I found Grime Reaper to be a far better cleaner but I am pretty sure Kleenol wasn't meant to clean as well as Grime Reaper anyway.

I recall Chris from eShine saying on DB that Kleenol comes prediluted 4:1. If you take this straight out of the bottle, it cleans extremely well. When I first got Kleenol, I had no idea that it was prediluted, so I diluted it 4:1 again. Even at that dilution (which is what I am still using), it cleans very well. It is rather pricey for an APC, but I don't mind paying for something that works.

So if you use it straight out of the bottle, you could use it for tires, rims. You can use it for engine bays, but I always found Grime Reaper to be better at that when used at equal dilution ratios. Nonetheless, Kleenol is still good. I have had pretty good results diluting it again at 4:1 to use for tires and rims though.

For interiors, I dilute it 8:1 for panels, and keep it at 4:1 for spot stain removal, as I usually use DP Carpet Cleaner for carpets.

I've looked into buying the big pails of Kleenol as I really do like it. However, if Grime Reaper became available from eShine in the gallon sizes or larger, I'd buy it over Kleenol.

Oh yeah, I also mist my pads with Kleenol before soaking them to help break up oils.

Nice work bro! One sweet looking ride too! :up

Thanks!

Very good work. It's pretty bad when you see swirls through a thick layer of dirt in the befores.

Thanks! The paint itself was very dirty even after claying. I clayed some spots twice, and my pads went black after 2-3 panels.

Thanks a lot Kaval for your help!

I'll make sure to follow your direction.

After more search, i've found that yes, Kleenol is kinda pricey comparing to other APC. I'm glad i got it on a BOGO deal (2x 128oz).

When i'll be done with those 2 gallons, i'll look into Meguiars APC+.
