I mistaking left product on my roof right before my gf had asked me a question. I left tmeguiars # 2 on the roof for 10 minutes. I came outside to see that it had baked on and etched the paint.

What shall i do. ? Shall I try meg#2 with my new yellow pad? Will that work? ANy ideas? I'm really perturbed.

thanks

Nick

I would use some QD to wipe off the residue, then compund again with the #2. It should not etch the paint.

Are you using a rotary? Also, try misting the new pad with QD first before buffing.

What the other said. I've found with Meguiars stronger paint cleaners, you need to wipe off the excess immediately or it practically welds itself to the paint.

What happened is that i put a few drops on the paint with my intention of using my pc to buff out some hard water stains. I got side tracked for a few minutes after my gf asked me a question and the stuff just baked to the paint. I swiped it off...but it left what looks like a stain in the paint. Ill try and take some pics so you will know what i mean. I tried all the polishes i have in my arsenaol to get it out..but no luck yet.

Thanks again

I havn't had any Megs stuff actually etch the paint, but like others I've overdone it with DACP etc and had a nightmare getting it off again.

Like was said the damn stuff virtually welds itself to the paint.

:angry :angry

I found re-polishing it with AIO usually wipes it out tho.

P.S. #26 does the same thing !!!!!

NEVER leave it on for long in direct sunlight or you'll regret it.

Try re-buffing with a generous amount of #2 and the yellow pad. It is a complex product that includes a chemical cutter in it. You still may be able to fix it by using the same product that caused the problem.

If that doesn't work let me know and I will give you a more in depth answer, I don't like to type as much as Mike...

Also let me know more about the paint that you are using it on.

Can you use the #2 with the PC? I thought it needed the heat of a rotary to breakdown properly:nixweiss

I have used it with a CMA yellow pad and my PC and it does work. With a PC it doesn't break down like it would with a rotary so you wind up with a lot of micro-marring but, nothing that a follow-up with DACP won't remove. If you need something more agressive than DACP #2 will work you just have to realize that it will require another pass with a less abrasive product.

I don't mean to hi-jack this thread but, what is the self life of #2?

I have a bottle that has sat under my sink for a few years and I am curious as to whether it is still good or not.

Any advise is welcome. Should I use it or not?
