<rant> Ok people... I can't take it anymore. It is MEGUIAR'S. Not 'macgures' or 'meguiers'. The family name is Meguiar and it is posessive, therefore it is apostrophe s. "Meguiar's". They aren't scottish nor are they irish. Well, maybe they are, but there is definitely no 'Mac' in their name. Nor is there an E anywhere in their name. I'm all for typing by phonetics, but this one is going to far. They are one of the biggest names in car care and you should know how to spell their name by now. I vote for a ban on the word 'meguiers'.

All I'm asking is that a little more care be taken with the spelling. We have already banned the shortened version of 'carnauba' that the kids are using these days, but I really can't take the butchering of Meguiar's any longer. So can we pay a little closer attention please? Just remember there is no E and no C and we should be fine. </rant> :thanks

"to" should be spelled "too"

"Too" is an adverb and is used when the meaning is also or excessively. "To" is a preposition used to indicate movement or action.

Snicker, snicker, he got you on that one. What Jngrbrdman meant to say is there is no "e" in the second half of their name. :)

I say butcher the rest of the english language all you want, but for crying out loud, can we at least get the spelling of major brand detailing products correct? If you were on a Chevrolet board and everybody kept spelling it 'Chevrolay', not to be funny, but because that is truely how they thought it was spelled, then I'm sure you would crack at some point too. I'm not complaining about typos. I'm complaining that there are people here who don't know how to spell Meguiar's. :lol: Totally different type of complaining.

You guys know that I'm not the spelling police around here. It is just that one word that I'm seeing tortured over and over again and I just can't take it anymore. If you are astute enough to catch my spelling errors, then you probably aren't one of the ones that irk me.

I agree with you totally!

I think it is one of the most basic things: paying attention to a company and show respect by writing at least their NAMES correctly. Ignorant people who don't care about this, are incoherent with the whole concept of meticulous care - because already their words are un-detailed, impure.

They can chase the soul ot of me...

People just don't know or care about proper grammar. Texting and instant messaging have reduced our language down to short combinations of letters and numbers. People don't (or won't) capitalize, punctuate or even write complete sentences anymore. Typos are one thing, ignorance is another.

I've seen all sorts of excuses. I'm surprised nobody has posted that stupid bit about how spell-checker doesn't catch everything. You have people who think that this is a chat room. You have others who just "don't have the time" to write complete sentences or use proper grammar. Then you have the people who feel they are being judged and crying about the grammar or spelling police.

We have people that will spend hours polishing paint to perfection, but are perfectly content to use third grade level grammar, spelling and punctuation telling you about it.

At least "Meguiar's" is semi-difficult to spell. The same goes for "Carnauba". I still don't understand how people can logically type out "Mobile 1" in reference to the oil.

Looks like you are on a roll big guy. Keep running your mouth/keyboard. With only a handful of posts, the only people that will miss you is your next door neighbor and his "little" buddy.

Hey for that matter, don't abbreviate product names so that noobies don't have to keep asking "What's LSP?" At least spell it out the first time and then abbreviate afterwards!

PS...It took me a while to figure out what "LSP" means!

Since in this thread, I'm the one who referenced the above phrase, and I read no one complaining about being judged; what do you mean to say?
 
whatever you do don't use MacGuiers on a Camero. A good rule of thumb should be if you can't spell it-don't buy it or drive it:stick On a serious note, the English language has all type of word spelling oddities and variations. Many have lobbied(including Presidents) for years for simplified spellings for more consistancy. Also consider that some who post may not use English as their primary language.
