Based on your success with the Hi-temps products I ordered the Hi-Temps Heavy, Medium, and Light Cut compounds. Any advice on LC pad selection and speeds with a rotary. In other words, what's been working for you? I delegate my Menzerna polishes to the Cyclo.

Very noticable improvement on that M5, especially in light of it being repainted (and I know what you mean about no one able to paint worth a darn). I notice you seem to be using FMJ more and more. Is that now your 'go to' sealant?

Well I hope that the Hi-Temp stuff works great for you. The LC pads I use are the orange pad, which works great for fast and accurate leveling with the heavy leveler, the white polishing pads with the medium cut and you can also use the light cut with the polishing pads.



Light Cut with a black finishing pad is great for swirl removal.



Irene is getting some new LC pads in and I am going to try them out and I'll be sure to let you all know how they work out for me.



Menzerna stuff does work well with the Cyclo but I they really work well with the rotary also. A great combo is Hi-Temps Heavy Leveler, Medium Cut and then IP. If a black car then go one more step with FP and then seal with a nice carnauba like TS or S100. FP seems to set up nice with a carnauba topper.

Yeah the FMJ really has me sold. I was hoping Irene would carry it but she says I am lucky I convinced her to carry the PG, IP and FP:D



What I love about the FMJ is the carnauba look it gives but with added advantage of a sealant.



I do have some insight though on those using FMJ or planning to do so. Don't use a carnauba based QD. *I* have found that it doesn't set well if a waxed based QD is used prior to applying FMJ now after to remove smudges. I seem to get better results with Fourstars QD, the one to be used in conjunction with UPP.



I don't have conclusive results yet, so don't take my word as gospel, but it seems to be pointing in this direction.

Yes I used a rotary and a Cyclo. The PC is a nice tool for applying waxes, polishes and cleaners but is pretty much useless for paint correction. So the rotary for the correction, or attempted correction and the Cyclo to clean up and finish out.

several weeks ago it was nothing but rain and I prayed daily for sunshine.....well we have had nothing but sunshine and I am working 10-12 hours a day......Needless to say I am now praying for rain:D :D

Agreed about the PC. Mike used DACP with the rotary (I'm kind of scared to use it), and it removed marks that wouldn't have budged with a PC. Very quick and effective tool, that rotary is. I wish I would have got one instead of my PC--knowing how to use a rotary is a must for detailers and correcting paint.



In a few months I should be good to go with the rotary. :xyxthumbs

I spent about 45 mins taping mine(1st time doing it), the real problem is that the tape will not stick on moldings with dressing:rolleyes: and I don't want to stick it on the paint:nixweiss . I wonder if its just easier to remove the mouldings before every detail:confused: I've read it's not that dificult.

Tape off BEFORE you dress the moldings and trim.



1) Clean the trim

2) Allow it to dry thoroughly

3) Tape it off and buff away

4) If needed THEN dress the trim and moldings. Many times the trim looks great with just a good cleaning, no dressing needed.

Anthony: I seem to be having decent luck with Blackfire's detail spray on FMJ (no loss of looks or gloss.) You may want to give it a shot and let us know what you think, I'd like to hear your input.



I tried the AIO/FMJ combo, and I have to say I'm very impressed with the results. I doubt I'll use the FTG again (at least on my own car. :D )



The M5 looks great. Nice job bringing that one back.

Thanks for the tip on the Blackfire QD. I may give that a try after I run out of the several bottles of UPP spray I have :eek:

Thanks for the :up and if anyone may be ordering the dye kit I spoke of and used........well be ready for a bit of a wait as Irene told me Thursday that there has been such an interest and demand for it that it is now back ordered. She will do her best to get everyones order filled ASAP!



I am on the waiting list myself for more cleaner:(
